Default Julio Cesar Chavez vs Henry Armstrong

Who do you believe would have won between these two at 135lbs. Both guys had great power and chins at this weight so it would be interesting to see if one could finish the other. So who you picking?

Wonder if Chavez's body attack could finally make Armstrong stop throwing such a high volume of punches. Take the steam out of him for once...

I may be in the minority when all is said and done but im picking Chavez by a UD over 12 perhaps a TKO in a 15 rounder.

I actually agree that Chavez would beat Armstrong via decision.

I think that this fight would be a lot like Chavez Taylor 1. Armstrong would out work Chavez but Chavez would do a lot of damage to Armstrong. It would come down to how dose Armstrong hold up in the later rounds.

Any other opinions? I thought more would favor Armstrong.

Armstrong out works JJC imo. I dont see how ANY one could take the steam out of Armstrong. That guy just thowns 100 punchings a round.

I also go with Armstrong based on a higher workrate, punch output, stamina and chin

Armstrongs was faster and just throws too many shots. He wouldn't find Chavez too hard to find either. Armstrong would certainly beat Chavez to the punch and when Armstrong lands 1 he'll land 10 in the same few seconds. The sheer volume of Armstrongs work would not just outscore Chavez but back him up to the ropes. Theres an assumption that Chavez is the bigger puncher which maybe true but the way to beat a puncher and take away his punch is to back the puncher up. Chavez will not be in a position to throw his best shots as Armstrong puts him on the back foot and closes the gap. I thin kChavez would have his moments and may hurt Armstrong and win some rounds but overal Armstrong would just be better

Armstrong UD 10-5

Armstrong definitely rates higher All-Time and in a P4P sense. That said, head-to-head I'd slightly lean towards Chavez to nick a much disputed SD over the duration. Chavez's much vaunted body punching could well take a bit of steam out of Armstrong down the stretch.

Interesting matchup, though. One which could go either way.

Also who do people rank higher at 135lbs, Armstrong achieved more at Feather and Welter and despite the fact Chavez was at his best at lightweight he too did more at 130 and 140lbs.

There actually pretty much the same size. Armstrong only made 126 12 times and was at his best weighing around 132-135 much like Chavez

The main thing that puts Armstrong above Chavez is his success at welterweight. Could Chavez have beat the same opponents? Could Armstrong have beat Whitaker/Taylor/Delahoya?

Armstrong, UD 15.

He would not tire. He would not be knocked out. He would outland Chavez.

We always measure recent favorites against the best history can offer at their respective weight. There's a reason Hank is so revered, and it would show against Chavez.
