I love old school UFC, and I bet that is what George was on about. It got pussified with rules and time limits etc. It was better before, no time limit, no weight class, only 2 rules no biting and no eye gouging; now that I liked. I hate the UFC today and all MMA as it is.

I agree with George. I have no doubt Foreman would of crushed Ali if they fought in MMA gloves. Ali let Foreman punch himself out , no way anyone could of survived those type of shots from George in MMA gloves.

Yep but with MMA gloves Ali wouldn't have used those tactics. He would have used the tactics the world expected and danced, although he would have adapted somewhat.

PS. If the world depended on a guy taking a power shot from a ferocious alien I'd pick Ali anywhere from his debut until well hell until the end, even when the man was so far past it he was almost back at the beginning and clearly ill, he still took shots from holmes and berbick.

If only baseball pitchers used golf balls...Hank Aaron would have 3000 home runs. If only MMA gloves were used? They weren't George, stop dwelling on the Rumble in the Jungle. Ali wouldn't have done the rope a dope, he would have moved more.

But its cool Foreman likes MMA - boxing fans can be MMA fans too without bashing it and putting MMA down

Ali had a chance to fight a MMA fight, but he bitched out at the last second and changed the rules. Ali was a great boxer, but that was not his greatest moment.

When was that then? And if MMA was a decent option back then, why is george saying it would have been his sport? Surely is it was established it would have been?

It was a Japanese wrestler that wanted to fight Ali. Ali agreed, but then totally changed the rules right before the fight.

He sat on the ground and kicked the shit out of Ali all night, while Ali done nothing.

Oh shit. I knew that was what you'd refer to to. That was a worked match. You know pro wrestling isn't real right. Ali sat up on the ropes etc that was called working the crowd. It was pre arranged publicity stunt.

Ali's legs took a beating, those were real kicks. Inoki is considered a pioneer of MMA's in Japan. He started shoot wrestling (real fighting promoted by wrestling organizations) in Japan , which led to the start of [Only registered and activated users can see links. ].
