Lewis, not even close. Far better resume, and a more skilled/effective fighter at his weight than Calzaghe was at his. Calzaghe won on workrate v Hopkins because Hopkins had stamina issues at aged 43, but Hopkins clearly outskilled him. I can't see many heavyweights doing that to a peak Lennox.

Lewis did all his amateur career in Canada. Even if he was born in UK, he was also Canadian until he turned pro. In fact, he probably still is Canadian. I just don't believe anyone from UK is thanking us for giving you such a champion.

I honestly feel that it would and did take more than just stamina/workrate to beat Bernard Hopkins...

If the Hopkins fight had have been a clear UD then he would have gone ahead of Buchanan and into 4th place on my British list

Wilde, Driscoll, Lewis and Buchanan would be ahead of him...but that's hardly a bad thing those guys could box!

Golota and Tua were 2 of his better wins in term of their age and relative peaks, Holyfield was old but nowhere near past it and that tops his list.....the Tyson fight was just the name on his CV by the time they fought. Names like Ruddock, Bruno, Mercer, Morrison are very good but not elite.....the Klitschko win must still wrangle with him cos the fight was so close and not really satisfactory.

All those names must rank Lennox above Calzaghe even though I would rather watch a Calzaghe fight compared to a Lewis fight. Preference can't take more relevance than substance though. Lennox is undoubtedly a legend, whereas Calzaghe's legacy is always questioned.

H2H Lewis is up there in the 5-10 heavies mainly to do with the massive size advantage he held over his opponents. But p4p he isn't in the top 5 for me no way.
