If Max is serious and has the right corner, he may be able to get George into deep water. Max had a chin but if he runs in and slugs he will lose...If he has a strategy(which is unlikely) but he used one vs Schmeling and he takes George past the first 3 rounds.....George never fought a Right hand puncher like Max (not even Lyle)...but If an old wizard like Ray Arcel or Angelo or even MannyS. Trick is not to turn Max into a Willie Pep but to utilize the jab enough to sneak the right in and let George feel his power and avoid George while keeping him at bay with his power.....It would take a lot of disipline from Max but he could produce an upset......other than that I favor George over an undisiplined version of Max....Max had the tools to do it though

If Baer brought his A game then this would be a fight of the year.
I would pick Foreman for the same reasons as everybody else but it wouldnt be a confident pick. Baer was more durable and had better stamina. It is possible to imagine one of these factors getting him home. |

Foreman by k.o. Too mean, surly, and hard hitting. Max was a puncher, not a boxer which is what is needed to beat foreman. He would try to beat foreman at his own game and would be knocked silly

The '73 Foreman clobbers the '34 Baer in brutal fashion.... A wicked encounter while it lasts, but Foreman wins this thing..... I suspect this would be a very sloppy fight with lotsa' wild shots landing and missing.... Foreman by KO over Baer in rd. 4....

It is possible to imagine one of these factors getting him home. Baer is more durable? Which is why Foreman was only stopped 1 time in 81 fights and fought till he was 48, Baer on the other hand avoided fighting most black fighters unless you consider Joe Louis black. If Glass chin Louis could handle his punching power then Foreman would as well and knock him out in 1 or 2 rounds. |

He willingly fought the most dangerous black contender (Joe Louis) but he avoided all the others who would have posed far less threat? Yes thats logical. Quote:
I would add that he was much easier to hit than Louis. So no I dont think Foreman would go through Baer like glass chin Louis did. |
