Default Watch out for movie 'Two Fists One Heart'

Movie: 'TWO FISTS ONE HEART'.

If you happened to miss the DSS radio program last night, it featured interviews relative to the soon to be released Aussie boxing movie Two Fists One Heart.

The film is shot in Perth, and features former Aust light welterweight champ Shane Reilly and former Aust amateur champ Rai Fazio. It sounds like a must see, particularly when you factor in the enthusiasm of the producer David Elfick (also did Rabbit Proof Fence), whom DSS interviewed.

Elfick stressed how much emphassis they've placed on getting the fight scenes looking 'real', including venues used, crowds etc. I guess if you can't get fight scenes looking realistic when you use boxers of the quality of Reilly & Fazio you're just plain doing something wrong. Anyway, sounds like they've nailed it!

Had a quick trawl on the Net this morning and viewed some movie trailers etc. Looks like they've nailed it too!

Apparently it opens 19th March - and from what I've pieced together so far it's a must see.

Tim Minchins in it?

That makes it a must see, wonder what sort of character he plays.

A few years ago in Perth there was a flurry of activity on the movie making front as nightclub owners all rushed to make the movies of 'their lives'.

Rai has probably gone about it the right way, getting independant funding and people in the know. If anyone ever gets the chance to see a film called 'Aussie Park Boys', made by an ex employer of mine I'd recommend it, its in the league of 'Santa with Muscles' as a film classic for all the wrong reasons.

Here's some speel from website:

Anthony Argo (Daniel Amalm) is a champion boxer and nightclub doorman. His pursuit of the Australian ‘dolce vita’ (sweet life) increasingly puts him in conflict with his father and trainer, Joe, (Ennio Fantasticini) who has brought his Sicilian values of family, loyalty and iron-fisted respect with him to Australia.

Anthony meets Kate (Jessica Marais) who opens his eyes to a world beyond his boxingobsessed upbringing and fuels further rebellion
against his father’s values. His mother (Rosemarie Lenzo) and his best mate Theo (Paul Pantano) support him; however it is Tom (Tim Minchin), Kate’s musician brother, who helps Anthony see the world and his life from a different perspective.

When Joe is betrayed by another boxer, Nico Mancini (Rai Fazio) and finally reveals to his son the pain and violence in his own past, Anthony decides to return to the ring to defend the honour of his father.

You are kidding with Aussie Park Boys. If you took a massive dump, put some make-up on it and filmed it for ninety minutes, you would have a masterpiece in comparison to Aussie Park Boys

Quite simply, there isn't a way to put into words how horribly atrocious it is. The fact that I knew most of them just made it funnier.

I highly recommend it.

I wonder if Rai included his little confrontation outside a Subi restaurant couple of years ago with Mr Mercanti.

Actually didn't Fazios gym get firebombed as well a few years ago?

Obviously you don't count as a gym in WA unless theres been an arson attack.

Rai's gym did get firebombed, a week after the fight with Mr Mercanti.

Funny but true Leon, firebombing seems to be the new 'christening' of gyms in WA.

It's one terrible film. But I'd like to get a copy of it again just for a laugh.
I'm sure I saw a black guy extra in the skin head gang.

I think this movie looks pretty good, Amalm played a decent role in underbelly.

Yeah, if he was the guy who played Dibra he was very convincing - had the psycho chook eyes - played the dangerous unpredictable dude well.
