Have you ever heard of Kid Chocolate, Luis Manuel Rodriguez, Mantequilla Napoles and Kid Gavilan? These are 4 HALL OF FAMERS from Cuba before Fidel came and banned professional sports in Cuba. At that time, Cuba had better fighters than Puerto Rico ( do some research online ). So, the main reason that Cuba has'nt produced so many World Champs like Puerto Rico is simply because the vast majority of Cuban boxers are in Cuba, never escape and only a selected few come to the USA. And out of those selected few, we have produced 3 World Champs ( Casamayor, Hurtado and Gomez ), so now is when we will produce more ( with Gamboa, Lara, Rigondeaux, Solis, Acosta, Garcia etc ). Have no doubt about this, if Cuba was allowed to compete in the pros like your PR fighters have competed since ever, the Cubans would have today around 80-90 World Champs. A lot of them have failed in the pros but that is mainly due to lack of discipline and cracy lifestyles, but when they dedicate themselves they certainly triumph and triumph with class and style.

I just don't get why our Boricua brothers bash us so much, is it jealously? Is it fear because they feel that we will catch up on their so called " turf of World Champions? I really don't know why but I have known many PR people and 99% of them for some reasons always find reasons to bash los Cubanos. I will leave it at this: Only time will tell how far the Cubans will go!

Claiming one belt is just the beginning, after Gamboa comes Lara, then Rigondeaux, then Solis, then Acosta, then Perez, then Jhonson etc etc etc. Let's see your opinion after 3 years...

And on Sept/11, Gamboa will be WBA-WBC World Champion...

first of all we're talking about the future not the past,
secondly you have a lot of talent and good prospects but they have to do it in the pros and once they do it we can talk about it but right now they havent dont shit. the best prospect of all of them to me is rigondeaux and his career is going nowhere fast and father time is not on his side if he doesnt do something quick he'll be shit out of luck ... it get's tiresome when people over hype boxers that havent done shit and not all cuban boxers are going to be world champion.. they have a great reputation in the amateurs but the pros is a different style so they have to adjust and change that slapping running style that cubans use in the amateurs..

and lastly i'm not bashing cubas boxers and dont have anything against them i've been a fan of cuba's boxers for a long time.. i love ariel hernandez, hector vinent, savon, bolado and a bunch more.. i love to watch them in the olympics and represent all the latinos since they're the only ones getting medals besides is another good rivalry and is good for boxing because the one with mexico is dying since they dont have good boxers anymore... now we're building one with filipions and to have one with cubans will be great .. so stop crying and complaining not everybody has to drool for every boxer from cuba is not personal and u guys take it personal if somebody doesnt like one of your boxers

So he's training with Ronnie Shields now. Interesting.

I didn't know Shields trains Lara too.

Thanks for the news.
