If he can get a title-shot against a Klitschko... Read that Wladimir might fight Chisora and then Mormeck. If so it would sound like avoiding Solis.. ? Think King will promote Solis more in media than Top Rank did.

Yudel Jhonson and Yordenis Ugas won by TKO1, Dorticos result is yet to be updated on boxrec.com. They fought bums, so let's hope for better opposition next time plus Ugas to move down to 140lbs.

I'm afraid thats not true. The three Irish based Cubans are not eligable to fight for Irish or European titles, they would need to gain Irish citizenship or citizenship of another European country before they could fight for those titles and they have not been living in Ireland long enough yet to be able to apply. In order to get them decent fights it has been necessary to spend big money bringing guys into Ireland. All things considered their manager/promotion team have done well so far. |

There are rumours that Mike Perez maybe one of the unannounced boxers in the next episode of prizefighter. Two fighters have yet to be named and Perez did not feature in Brian Peters show in Dublin and has been removed from the October card in Letterkenny. It is just speculation right now but it would be wonderful exposure for Perez. Will keep you posted.

Here's the story as to why Solis left Top Rank:
Frustrated with Top Rank's handling of heavyweight contender Odlanier Solis, co-promoter Ahmet Öner of Arena-Box worked out an amicable deal Friday for Top Rank to release Solis. Öner said he is bringing on Don King as the co-promoter for Solis (16-0, 12 KOs), a 2004 Cuban Olympic gold medalist, who defected with teammates Yuriorkis Gamboa and Yan Barthelemy in December 2006 before turning pro in early 2007. "Top Rank has other priorities than the heavyweight division, which is fine and no problem for me," Öner told ESPN.com. "I just feel that it's my obligation to give my fighter the best possible perspectives and opportunities for big fights. Don King has a long history of promoting the greatest heavyweight boxers in the world and the defining heavyweight championship bouts for close to four decades. That is why I believe he is an ideal partner to work with." Top Rank promoter Bob Arum told ESPN.com under the terms of the release, Öner will repay Top Rank the six-figures it invested in Solis. Top Rank has promoted Solis' last two fights, a second-round knockout of Monte Barrett in October and a third-round stoppage of Carl Davis Drumond in March to move Solis, 30, within one win of a mandatory shot at titleholder Vitali Klitschko. "Solis is one of very few heavyweight boxers today with superstar potential. He is a three-time world amateur champion and Olympic gold medalist, and he's got what it takes to become the next big thing. Odlanier might be the only real threat to the Klitschkos," Öner said of Vitali and his heavyweight champion brother, Wladimir Klitschko. "We hope to get our hands on Vitali early next year." Before that, Solis -- who stopped future heavyweight titlist David Haye in the third round in the 2001 world amateur final and also beat former heavyweight titlist Sultan Ibragimov in that same tournament -- is due to face journeyman Ray Austin, who is with King, in a title eliminator that will give the winner the mandatory shot. "Solis has to beat Austin for that [opportunity] in their final eliminator but I'm sure that he will pass this tough test," Öner said. Öner hopes to finalize the eliminator with King in time for Solis and Austin (28-4-4, 18 KOs) to meet by mid-November, probably in Germany, where Öner, who is from Turkey, does most of his business. Top Rank had lined up Solis to face Jason Gavern on its "Top Rank Live" series on Oct. 16, but that has been called off. One of the reasons Top Rank and Öner are splitting is because Öner was unhappy that Solis was not going to be fighting on HBO or Showtime, but instead on the lower-profile Fox Sports en Espanol platform. Top Rank, which doesn't do much business in the heavyweight division anyway, was OK with the release provided it got its money back. "We would get back the money back that we have in him and Ahmet and King can promote him," Arum said of the deal. "Ahmet feels that the kid would be better off with King and we're happy with that. Ahmet is not breaking any contract. He is giving us our money back. King doesn't have that much on his plate and can probably do a better job with Solis than we can with a full plate. So we'll give him the release. That's how you're suppose to deal with people who treated you nice and have been honorable. We sat down and discussed this and felt it was best for everyone." King and Öner are no strangers to co-promoting together. Öner made a deal with him in August to co-promote welterweight contender Selcuk Aydin. They are working on a deal that if completed would see Aydin, a mandatory challenger, face titleholder Andre Berto on Nov. 27 on an HBO undercard. Top Rank and Öner will continue to co-promote Gamboa, the current unified IBF and WBA featherweight champion. |

Zack Page is listed to fight Luis Ortiz on Oct. 19 on boxrec.com. Page is a 21-30 journeyman with a granite chin and shitloads of experience, plus some upsets over Kevin McBride, Sebastian Koeber, Eugene Hill or Cisse Salif, so he's not to be overlooked. Ortiz is of course the 3-0 HW who recently turned pro, but already picked up a minor belt beating Kendrick Releford.
