Then there is the alleged driving offences - according to the press in Bolton he is due in court later this month for the 140mph speeding & failing to produce and due in court again in october for the dangerous driving matter. Obviously, you are innocent until proven guilty but instead of appearing on reality tv shows perhaps he should just concentrate on his defence - in more ways than one judging by his last bout!
You are right, of course...it's called a publicity stunt. I am glad you joined the forum! Remember, this is a boxing forum, though...not a slagging-boxers-off forum.

Sorry m8, it,s just imo when people bring out the newbie card it,s usually just a copout.

back on topic:
I think Khan overall has been a massive positive influence on youngsters, I think in years to come we may see the next gen of boxers say "they got into boxing coz they saw Khan at the olympics etc"

Not sure about this programme, have yet to watch it, so don,t want to make a pre-judgement!

I gotta be honest, on the few highlights I've seen, Khan comes across very well

Yes, you hit a raw nerve...it does piss me off when a newbie acts as if they have a relationship with established posters and make personal comments about them as if they had known them for months/ years...even if a comment made by someone strikes you in a certain way, you have no way of knowing whether it's in character or made in jest, unless you've read many posts by that poster, and know the context in which they were made...or, a newbie has no way of knowing that...see what I mean?

I watched the show and even though I thought the routines were a bit formulaic and overdramatic, Amir came across well and genuine, and he clearly had those boys' best at heart! It is a good thing to have done this for these boys, I thought.

without wishing to be disney formulaic, amir khan doesnt have to be a champion in the ring, cos hs seems like a champion out of it....remember, this kid is 19....what were you like at 19...i was a ****in nightmare......good job khan, y'all may say publicity stunt, but really, does khan HAVE to do this sort of shit for publicity....i think he believs in this and hope he makes a difference to at least one of the lads...remember, an inch in the right direction is better than a step in the wrong one....

Well, having seen it, I thought Amir came across well (and family).

The lad from Devon seemed to have serious issues though that I do not for a minute think boxing could sort out. He needed professional physchotherapy.

I hope this puts to bed some of the Arrogant and Fraud claims constantly spat out with vitriol against Khan becasue he has the temerity to think he will be a world champion (unless of course he ruins it in the next two parts)

Regardless of whether he achieves this or not, he has been a positive influence on the sport (especially amateur boxing) and I wish him the best of luck. (needs to work on his defence though )
