ok here's the story. i started boxing last year and i still love it. however, in october, my parents made me quit. now i have no time to get back in with all my other obligations. it seemed like this threw a wrench into all my plans i had of going on in boxing to go for the golden gloves and everything. i want to get back in but i dont know if ill be too old or if it will be too late. im 17 soon to be 18.

thanks guys. i think i can really do something here because its not like baseball, football, bball where only a few can go pro. sure the select few make it to the top but yeah i love boxing even though im relatively new to the sport.

I started when i was 18 bro its not to old and dont let anybody else tell you any different. people will tell you your old because they cant do it themselves so they want to bring everyone down with them. Keep doing what you love and go in their with the mentality that although difficult, it is not impossible to be a top boxer. Thats how i see it. I might turn pro but ima stick with the amateurs for a while to get some more experience and then take it from there just one step at a time.
Good luck bro and keep training. |

Just find a good trainer you can trust who has your best interests in mind and don't trust the guys who run the gyms too much. If they have a favorite or top fighter there, they will use you to get him in shape during sparring, even if it means giving you a beating for his confidence. Get what I am saying? Take care. Be careful.

Cintron started boxing when he was 19 but he is a little bitch so hes not a good example but still it just shows late teens/early 20s is not that old to start boxing.

My point still stands, though. Hopkins got out of prison at 23. People lamenting at 17 or 18 about whether it's "too late for them" need to check themselves. |
