If this fight had happened in late-82 or early-83, as proposed, instead of the '85 matchup, could Don still have beaten Milton?

Yes, Curry was not the finished article in 82/83 that he was in 85, and I suspect he would not of blown the Iceman out, but he showed in the Hwang he could keep going when things got tough.
