Rumors are circulating that 2008 Beijing Olympics heavyweight gold medalist for Russia Rakhim Chakhkiev is close to signing a deal with famed German promotional powerhouse Universum Box-Promotion.

this guy is brave. i like his boxing, but glass chin will be a problem. so with his style he's gotta stay away
of big punchers and guys with good stamina, because he was running out of gas in 6 minutes. |

If you want to go negative on Chakhiev, he's only 6'1", but he has a large big boned type of frame won't be fat at 215-220 pounds. In this day and age there are plenty of good athletes in boxing, but very few stone cold fighters. Chakhiev is a stare you down, I'm going to take you out type of fighter with no fear. I am a fan of his style. Can he be a champion? At cruiser weight, sure. At heavyweight, maybe Chakhkiev is good enough to win a belt 4-5 years down the road, but its going to have to come the hard way. Chakhiev is not as swift with his feet and hands as say Sultan Ibragimov is, and not quite as good as a boxer as Chagaev is. Either way, this is a grade A type of prospect with the Olympic gold medal pedigree at heavyweight with a fan pleasing style. |

![]() Chakhkiev is heavily muscled so he'll probably fight at HW and he is a bit on the short side for that. |

that was the unknown guy no2 of team, and that happened a
couple of months before beijing. and don't get me wrong! i wish him all the best and comparing to bum like povetkin he is great, but still, germany gonna make him worse. uli wagner, mikael timm, fritz zdunek are the best german trainers and they are sh/t. ive seen a 100s of fights and didn't heard at least 1 good advance between rounds. especially they just grabbing money by using base that amateurs trainers made a wile before. Zdunek is even making them worse. rahim will be looking like tyson in debut, but i am afraid that there will be because of the physicall progress only. РАХИМ! ТРЕБУЙ У НЕМЦЕВ АМЕРИКАНСКОГО ТРЕНЕРА! RAHIM! PRESS GERMANS FOR THE US TRAINER! |

I think he will be suited for the pro's...he looked solid and the added weight will be muscle...thing is he needs the right trainer to bring out the best in him...I think his size is fine,,,he needs to develope style as a pro

I think the guy is confusing him with someone else, maybe Timurziev, who had the injury stoppage against Zhang Zhilei not too long before the Olympics. Otherwise I would still hear some more info about that supposed KO, that's news to me. |

Very good news! His roughouse style seems to be made for the pros.At times he looks like a German tank/panzer inside the ring. His foes at the pros need a very telling bazooka to stop this durable tank.
A pity that Zuev wont turn pro!!!!! His style is made for the pros, too. His chin is his weak spot, but damn he for sure is fun to watch...........like Chakhiev. |

Also, saying Chakhkiev will be better than Povektin, because Povetkin is a bum is odd. Povetkin is a top ten fighter who has been moved at a quick pace. |
