Default Easy To Knock Down, Impossible To Keep Down

Almost more so then simply being able to take a punch, picking yourself up off the canvas might be the truest showing of bravery there is in boxing.

You're not invulnerable like some other fighters, nor can you shrug off another fighters heavy artillery effortlessy. But you get up and keep fighting.

What fighters spring to mind here? Lesser known non-cliched answers would be best.

Brian Vera is a young current fighter that comes to mind.

He was knocked down... 3 times against James Kirkland? The entire HBO commentary team was amazed at how he simply get getting back on track and absorbing absolutely everything Kirland was hitting him with, with that concrete ****ing noggin' of his.

Codrington also had him down but again, he got up.

It's funny, undefeated prospect Andy Lee had him down yet in a fight that could have been stopped he went on to win. If fights were 20 round affairs he'd probably of won the two fights he was stopped on his feet in.

Corrales went down so many times and only stayed down once. Wladdy down so often but only the Brewster fight he didnt get back up. Louis was down plenty as was Charles who was KD'ed a total of 15times in 2consequetive fights yet still went onto greatness

Its goto be said getting knocked down allot shows bad balance and weak legs as much as bravery. Other guys like Tyson took allot of brutal shots while staying on his feet

Very good points. It's easier to get bowled over when you've got match stick legs grounding you as opposed to tree trunks.

Corrales for sure.

Julio Cesar Gonzalez maybe..I dont know maybe not, he certainly wasnt easy to put down.

But his fight with Letterlough was an absolute pearler..he was down like 3 times in that fight, one of them was a very heavy knockdown, like a highlight reel knockout for most people. He was out flat on his back but got up before the 10 and went on the win the fight.

He also went down more then once against Roy..who I dont consider that big a puncher at 175. And he soaked up some massive punishment in that fight but always looked like making the rounds.

Loved his fight with Letterlough. Julio Cesar Gonzalez was a bit underrated in my opinion.

Patterson. People tried to humiliate him by saying he went down more times than any other HW champ in history, but he was always quick to say: "But I got up more times than any HW champ in history!", thats class!

Grimm, though, is a damn good condidate. I think only McVey was able to knock him out during his "prime" years. Johnson, Fitzsimmons, Langford, Blackburn, Norfolk, all tried like hell to knock him out, dropping him dozens of times, but he kept getting up. Nobody but McVey, I think, ever collected on his challenge for anyone to knock him out.
