He didn't benefit from too many out and out robberies, but Emile Griffith got plenty of decisions go his way which could have easily gone to the other guy at MSG.

I'm not saying that Virgil Hill did not deserve all the decisions he won in North Dakota. But does anybody genuinely believe any opponent who stepped in the ring with him there could have gotten a fair shake?

Nicolino Locche is another one I would put in this category, despite his defensive wizardry and me being a fan. From everything I read, he was extremely fortunate to receive a draw vs Ortiz. Between how silly he could make you look without actually landing much to score himself and fighting in his back yard, it would've been a real ***** to try and score a W over him.

Ottke, of course. A fine fighter but he always received the benefit of the doubt in close rounds and close fights.

For all of Holmes *****ing of being robbed numerous times he received the nod in extremely close fights several times. Maurice Harris, Tim Witherspoon, Carl Williams and to a lesser extent the Norton match.

Ali rubs me the wrong way, much as I appreciate him, because he transcended boxing and was one of the worlds biggest sport cash cows. Hence, he received the nod in close fights for the "betterment" of the sport. And money, of course.

The Young fight. Some feel Norton won all three of their fights (Ali himself says he feels he lost the third Norton fight in a post fight interview) Some feel the second Frazier match was very close. The Lyle stoppage (Leonard received similar pointless stoppages) The Jones fight and the Shavers fight, which again some feel he lost.

Who else?
The second fight was a clear win for Ali imo,and I saw nothing wrong with the Lyle stoppage, the third Norton fight was arguable imo.

Sven Ottke was just a joke! He was as much of a paper champ as they come. Brewer, Miychell and Reid all beat him but look what happened!

When people try and insult Calzaghe by comparing him to Ottke it's not very fair to be honest.

i think at the very least he floored ayala once. hugo out punched ayala and never gave him any rythm, it fight was similar to the williams-wright fight that happened recently in how hugo threw constantly and ayala was relying on his high glove defense. good for ayala but a injustice to hugo.

i think thats absolutely true, i would be a darn shame to find out that the judges minds where made up by the crowd instead of the fight itself.

hill vs ottke... somewhere other then their hometowns would have been interesting.

eubank got some gifts but his luck ran out against steve collins.
i thought he won their 1st fight, had a knock down against him which wasn't,and knocked collins down ,only for it to be ruled a slip.
