Barrera was near prime against Pacquaio but he left his heart in the ring against Morales 1 and never had the same brutality after that. After that Barrera was looking to box smart but wasn't quite the same warrior that he was from 1995-2000. That served him well against Hamed, against Pacquaio he was overwhelmed by the speed and had no answer. I feel if Barrera was the up and comer he could come up with a strategy to be far more effective and maybe win, maybe not
If Barrera was the up and comer like he was against Hamed and specifically preparing for Pacquaio's style and Pacquaio was his 1dimensional 126lb self, Barrera may just counter his way to a UD win. I don't think Barrera was too far off in the rematch, he outboxed Pac for periods early on and Pac wasn't getting anything meaningfull off himself. |

That was a pre-prime Pac dominating a near prime but sorta not 110% version of Barerra...(he had well publicized out of the ring issues)
If they had 3 fights...I see Pac mugging him in the first one again and like the rematch MAB ad******g so he sees the final bell but not with the win. |

I still would favor Pacquiao, but Barrera was definitely not 100% for the first fight. That just seems to go unmentioned for whatever reason.

Depends what prime versions you put in the ring together... absolute peaks were likely in different weight classes.

True. At 122 I'd favor Barrera, as I think Pac was still too raw for an A game elite like MAB. Pacquiao on the other hand is only peaking currently IMO, well outside of Barrera's comfort zone.

pac was also raw amd was still picking when he move up in weight and fought and dismantled barrera in 2003... MAB was the same fighter in 2003. Proof of that is MAB shy away from a rematch. and the only logical reason is, he can not beat pacquiao...maybe styles makes fights which imply that MAB is a limited fighter...he can not find a way to beat pac |

why do you think the proud barrera shy away from a rematch...There was a rematch clause in the contract |

Huh? Probably because he got his arse handed to him the first time around..But MAB arguably took on a better version of Pac when he himself was fading in the rematch..Which takes a bit of balls. |
