Default Clash of the HW journeymen - Who was the best?

Here’s a list of some journeymen who are well known. Who had the most exciting/effective style, who achieved most? Who should be added?

Gerry Cooney – beat Ken Norton

Jimmy Young – beat George Foreman

George Chuvalo – had some highlights against Floyd Patterson and Muhammad Ali

James Quick Tillis – beat Earnie Shavers

Jerry Quarry – beat Floyd Patterson and Earnie Shavers

Oscar Bonavena – scored KDs against Joe Frazier and Floyd Patterson

Ron Lyle – beat Earnie Shavers

Chuck Wepner – scored a KD against Ali

James Buster Douglas – beat Mike Tyson

Randall Tex Cobb – beat Earnie Shavers

Leotis Martin – beat Sonny Liston

Jimmy Ellis – beat Floyd Patterson

Call them journeymen, contender, or journeymen with a titleshot, whatever you like.

Then I nominate Jimmy Young.

A strong case can be made for him being a top 30 all time heavyweight.

Tough call. I bet there are people on this board who wouldn't rate e.g. Riddick Bowe within top 30.

I'd be surprised if you can find anyone who doesn't have Bowe in their top 30.

What the hell makes e.g. James Tillis greater than Chuck Wepner?

If Chuck Wepner said-

"I was no all time great but I did enough that I should not be caled a journeyman"

Who could argue with him?

Shit, I didn't notice Tillis. My bad.

He was also a journeyman.

Of those listed, I'd probably pick Chuvalo. Like others have said, the term journeyman is not really applicable to any of these guys except Tillis and Wepner. And even those guys were top-tier journeymen.
