From 8pm...
Steffan Kretschmann (13-0 12 KO's) is a solid HW prospect and takes a step up in class against Denis Bakhtov (29-5 18 KO's). Hide's opponent isn't all that, Halasz has a 26-12 record with 9 of his losses coming inside the distance. I guess they're just keeping Herbie busy until he gets a world title shot. Fights only scheduled for 8. Also on the card is top MW prospect Dmitry Pirog (13-0 11 KO's) who takes on Kofi Jantuah in a tough fight. Pirog was meant to fight Mahir Oral but he got offered a fight with Abraham instead. Should be a decent card and it's the only live boxing on British TV this weekend. |

Nice.
Quite interesting fights, except Hide's. Not sure how Kofi Jantuah is holding up these days, but he was one tough SOB with a hard punch so that is tough matchmaking for young Pirog. |

I seem to remember you tipping Pirog as one to watch out for in one of those 'prospect' threads. Looking forward to watching him fight.

Yeah I think he's good...but this is the real acid test and I'm somewhat surprised at the fight.
He could easily wind up losing this fight. He's only had 13 fights and he's stepping in the ring with a guy that went the distance with Abraham, and knocked out Rubio in a round. I could look a fool. But if he wins impressively, he could be the real deal. |
