Default Should Naz have fought Morales instead?

I mean instead of fighting Barrera when he did.

Both Morales and Barrera moved up at the same time from SBW to FW, but Naz-Barrera was the fight that was made.......maybe in anticipation of a Naz-Morales showdown later on.

I remember it being quite a shock when Barrera came in and started boxing Naz instead of reverting to the usual stand and trade Mexican machismo.

Now, Morales is more of a heart-on-his-sleeve type of Mexican, always wanting to please the crowd by getting down and into the trenches with an opponent. I can't see Morales sitting on the outside, ignoring Naz' taunts for 12 rounds.

So, in hindsight, would the Morales fight have been a smarter one to take a the time, and how do you see such a fight panning out?

It didn't matter who Nas had fought, he'd basically abandoned his training by this point in the form of learning about his opponents and trying to neutralise any of their strategies. He really just didn't care and took everyone for granted, pretty much trying to KO his opponents and had no sort of defense or counter-act when his power wasn't working. He wouldn't listen to his corner and wouldn't listen to anybody else, it wasn't anxiousness for a Morales fight that stopped him beating Barrera.

And personally, I think Morales would have beaten Naz, it was just his time then.

I'll be honest, at the time I thought Morales would be the harder fight for Hamed.

I might be wrong, but didn't Morales turn down the fight when Naz fought Bungu? That's what HBO said on that broadcast

Manny Steward thought a fight between Naz and Morales would have been a no-contest,he said as much after Morales fought Espadas for the first time

Same here.

I think everyone thought it would be harder, but in hindsight I think Barrera was the harder nut to crack. Hamed might have dealt better with Morales.

Still not too sure if he would have won though.

Thing is, it wasn't a complete walkover for Barrera. Naz had a good enough time of it in the middle rounds, and Barrera fought the perfect fight, never got careless and never jumped in wildly when Naz looked stunned. Its hard for me to see Morales following the same gameplan.

Highlighted bit: I never even took this into consideration; its not a factor for me.

I can't even remember to be honest.

I just know that both EM and MAB moved up at the same time, following their first fight.

I'm sure if the money was right the match-up could have been made.

I just watched the fight today so I guess it's good timing.According to them,JMM,Spadafora,EM and MAB all refused the fight at that time.As for money,Spadafora reportedly turned down $1.5m.I'm just repeating what was said at the top of the broadcast, not sure how much truth is in it

Yep, looking back at how controlled MAB was in that fight I think Morales would have been the better fight for Hamed but at the time I thought MAB would get drawn into a punch up at some point. Morales def. would have....

Not sure it matters. Morales is an excellent boxer when he wants to be, he outboxed Pacquiao really.

I really enjoyed watching Naz fight. His new trainer wanted him to be a ballet dancer though, did the same with Frietas.

I think Naz fought Barrera because he's seen Junior Jones KO him (well, DQ, but you know what I mean). Morales would probably have been an ever bigger fight at the time I guess
