When Frazier first fought foreman he was like 10-15lbs higher than his weight when he first fought with Ali. Thats how you know he wasn't at his peak.

At any rate, I don't think cocky had much to do with it. Joe had basically one style and it was tailor made for George. When they rematched, Joe still used that style, albeit a little more cautiously, with similar results.

I don't think it would have mattered much when they rematched. The result would probably have been similar.
