Bert Cooper was bad man when he turned up, and gave us some of the more entertaining fights of the 90s. Brilliant attitude, came to fight. What ain't to like about Smokin' Bert Cooper.

Truth be told, I'm not all that big on Heavyweights, but those three I have a lot of time for. Bowe is one of the more intriguing fighters to me because of how he came and went so very quickly. He also showed a ton of heart against Golota, when he was all but spent. Hard to not admire that.

Those three, f'sho.

Big Larry would have sorted them all out, including Liston. I'll give Liston credit for his jab impact. But Holmes used that tool like a real boxer. He could use it from the waist as well as shoulder height. And it was the best jab in heavyweight history. Certainly the most well rounded.

Zivic 1952 had an interview with Holmes where he talks about Liston and Larry admits that this would have been one of his hardest fights. Which for Larry, is saying plenty.

He was broke, finished, one broken, ruined hand, working one handed on the ****ing docks in an economic crisis that makes this one look like a weekend back at Butlands, he stays in shape, he studies boxing, he strenghtens his left hand - co-incidently - he comes back, he beats the #1 prospect in the world, a top-drawer pure boxer, exacly the type of fighter that has been beating him up for years, then the #1 contender then the most feared HW champion, possibly in history up until that point.

What's not to like?
