so he held up the wbc title fight all year with all those negotiations and he wouldnhave been able to fight it even if he had got the shot after all those months of haggling with peter and maskaev.
The good side of this is that peter can now fight wlad again if he beats oleg, vitali would have beat peter to protect his brother which im sure was the reason for his comeback anyway, peter is the only guy out there that could trouble wlad, put them in with a ref that doesnt allow wlads clamping holds and leans on the kneck and the fight would be wide open. |

Sad stuff. If this is true, Vitali might as well hang them up...his body obviously can no longer take the stress if he keeps getting injured in training. Sad, considering some consider him the better of the brothers.

Not as bad as it seems on the surface.
ESPN says that it was a very common injury, and that Vitali still wants to fight, and will be able to resume his training in 4 to 6 weeks. ESPN also says,( merely their opinion,) that the McCline fight probably won't be rescheduled, and that Vitali will probably go right to fighting the winner of Oleg Peter. I think this is probably due to the fact that they think that the Oleg Peter winner won't wait on Vitali to recover from a McCline fight in the winter, and will move on without him. I think Vitali going right to the WBC winner is pushing his luck, but, if he don't cash in on his emeritus status right away, he may not get another chance. Personally, I think he'll reschedule the McCline fight, and try to then still make the WBC titleshot before it slips away.......as a mere 4 to 6 week postponement is nothing, given how long we've been waiting, already. LOL |

So FW you'd give me 10-1 odds on a Vitali-McCline bout? Your 1000 vs my 100, ok. Hell, you wouldn't make an even money bet on this bout unless Vitali entered the ring wearing a back brace. Quote:
whichever comes first. ( <-- FW 6 straight emoticon effect is sooooo coooool)

I take you never saw the mythical, 1000 page "gottem" thread about the Lewis v Vitlay fight? I wouldn't give you 10-1 on a Vitlay win. I might give you the same odds that he actually makes the first scheduled date of a fight. How many postponements is this in a row, 4 or 5??? The mans body has had enough. |

There was a thread started by Patsys that just wouldn't die. "Absolutely no doubt Vitlay would have gottem KO'd in the 7th round" I think that was the title. It was huge - hundreds of pages long. There was probably about a hundred posts that simply said Lewis TKO 6 to any crazy rant by a Vitlay fan. Un(?)fortunately, it got lost in the last crash. Hell, it probably caused it!!! That's all, no major disagreement here. |

At 36 years old... I really don't think that Vitali should keep doing this. I understand that he wants to win a title so that him and Wlad can accomplish their dream, but the man is obviously beat down from his years of kickboxing, and boxing. Too much wear and tear, and he is too old, and too big to ever completely recover.

I love the way you insinuate that I'm not too wealthy or smart or whatever - after totally missing the point, very amusing, I never realised Americans got irony so much By the way I'm in England, we don't have Wal-Mart over here. |
