NBC-TV was promoting Chris as a 'Future Star'

After '8' straight wins (8 KO's), then

Sunday Afternoon - August 23, 1981 (NBC Sportsworld)

Chris McDonald struggled with 'trial horse' Cruiserweight -Lou Benson 13-3-1 (8 KO's)
and escaped with a 'debatable' 8-Round Draw.

He was facing an opponent he should have 'steam-rolled' over, but he fought meakly
and almost afraid to hurt Lou Benson.

Something happened with his focus and desire against Lou Benson. He just wouldn't punch,
as he appeared afraid to let the punches go, in fear of hurting his opponent.

Later after the fight, he was examined, and the Doctor said it was a 'mental block',
not anything physical.

Fear of hurting someone = Anxiety and Stress (OCD Syndrome)

He was one of the Tomorrow's Champions, the least talented one, if I remember correctly at the time.

After fighting an 8-Round Draw with Lou Benson,,,,

He took 1-year off, then came back in September 1982 versus James 'Bonecrusher' Smith, on a National TV Fight.

He fought 'flat and unmotivated' in losing an 8-Round Decision.

He just wouldn't 'punch'.
