Default Wrist hurts really bad.

I'm actually only typing with my left hand right now. My right wrist really hurts. I think I may have fractured it, but there is no swelling. It doesn't hurt if I just leave it, only when I move it does the pain come.

It only started to hurt AFTER training, and not during. Should I just take a break for a while, or go see a doctor?

If it was fractured you would have swelling. You may have strained something. Rest up and if it is still very painful after a week or 2 see a doctor.

You posted about this once before didn't you - I forgot to get back to you, my bad!

Anyway, I am quite concerned by this problem. Imo, you are looking at either Thoracic Outlet Syndrome (trapped nerve between your upper arm and neck), lateral epicondylitis (tennis elbow), or Cumulative Trauma Disorder (too much punching!!).

All of these conditions can lead to very serious problems if not managed properly. There are oodles of possible causes for these conditions - far too many to list here, but a couple of common one's that might apply to you are a sharp increase in activity, or tightness of the neck and shoulder musculature (commonly caused by too much resistance training and not enough stretching!). If it is either of these two causes, you will be lucky as they are easily corrected. Your first port of call is without question to see a doctor, and do so asap - catching these conditions early will directly impact on your recovery success and time. I would also rest completely until you have seen a doctor.

I hurt my 2 lil bones in my wrist(forget the name) In a fight(not in the ring)
I threw one of them stupid manny paquao combose lol Right, Left, Right. 1st Right dazed him Left had him falling over but I was already throwing the Right when he started leaning and hit the wall. wall barley even gave mold of my knuckle was in the wall and some skin from my hand. I thought I Broke my knuckles and my wrist felt pain behind my knuckle badly(punch with last 3) all way down to the inside of my wrist. I thought I fractured bones in. Im glad the guy couldnt go on because there was nobody to there to stop him from kicking my ass royally.

My wrist hurt for 8 months. I couldnt even shake nobodys hand. I finally got EX Rays almost a year afterwards and nothing was there. Doc said it was a really bad sprain. I would have to say if it just came from training and not hitting a thin layer of sheet rock with concrete behind it with bad intentions your fine from a months rest

DO NOT AGGRAVATE IT mine felt good after 4 months and went to hit the bag and I was in agony but I missed the bag so much I continued to work the bag on my 1st two knuckles and 4 months later it took to feel better

It still hasn't healed, my dad and I were horseplaying and he twisted my wrist just a little bit and was still struck with pain.

Don't have time, and it only hurts now if I hit the bag hard or if I twist it

I think you might regret that type of mindset.

You have time to type on a message board, but not to visit a doctor? I'm not trying to be funny, but you seem to have your priorities mixed up.

Let me tell you a brief story about Ross Enamait. Ross is one of the best conditioning coaches out there today, and very highly respected member of the boxing community. As a young man, he was a very good amateur fighter, who probably would have went on to have a successful pro career had it not been for injuries. When he was younger, he suffered several hand/wrist injuries. Being admittedly, young and ignorant at the time, he threw caution to the wind regarding his injuries - that attitude wrote off any ambitions he had of being a successful fighter. If he had followed the doctors advice, he would probably be fighting at a very high level today.

Have a good look at this article [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

Once you have read it, sit yourself down and have a long, hard think about what you want to be, and how you can get there. I promise you this though, if you continue to display ignorance towards injuries, you will do yourself out of training time, miss fights due to injuries and if you do continue to "train through the pain", chances are that you will suffer the consequences for the rest of your life. What happens when you have kids and you can't play with them because of "an old hand injury"?

Think about it.
