I am not spilling an alcoholic drink in the lap of any Muslim heavyweight champion. Ali is definitely out. Marciano had a temper, and once fractured the jaw of somebody who failed to pay back some money he was owed. As temperamental as Sharkey could be, I'm not sure I would have been willing to take a chance with him. There seems to be a difference in the public and private personas of both Foreman and Holyfield.

Senselessly star struck fans would enthusiastically rip buttons off Dempsey's jackets for souvenirs without suffering repercussions. Pissing him off after his career was over took some doing apparently. (Galento somehow managed it. Speaking of Tony, Two-Ton probably dealt with this drink spilling situation in reality).

Patterson is mentioned as a consumate gentleman, but Gene Tunney was ridiculed for the way he was known to brush off mouthy provocateurs. ("You are full of self-approbation and deceit!") Once, when Tunney was sparring with George Bernard Shaw, the playwright impulsively sucker punched him, bloodying his mouth. Gene immediately feinted a left and right, stopping just short of Shaw's chin, and cautioned him, "Do NOT do that again!"

Willard and Carnera seem to have been very mild mannered, in the self conscious way big men often are. King Levinski pissed Max Baer off in an exhibition everybody has probably seen on youtube, while Billy Conn suckerpunched him in a sparring session, turning Baer's retaliatory anger against him, rendering Max's attempts at retaliation ineffective.

I enjoyed all this Duodenum...and it speaks of a cautionary tale of being damned careful with your damned pint of suds around big, dangerous men who punch one another for a living.(lol)

If you had to spill your pint in the lap of a lineal heavyweight champion and suffer his reaction:

Who would be your first choice?

Who would be your last choice?

Good luck.

First choice-----John L Sullivan. He probably wouldn't have noticed as he would likely be stinking drunk and have already spilled a pint or two into his own lap.

Last choice-----Sonny Liston
