Default bentt puts sam peter into perspective

"...No, he doesn’t. We saw that when he fought the cat from Nigeria…Samuel Peter. That is the poster child for a guy who is strong, tough, but no talent. None. Sure, if you put him in with Jeremy Williams, he’ll knock him out every time they fight, because Jeremy Williams never had a heavyweight chin. He was a talented fighter, and he had a heavyweight punch but not a heavyweight chin. But Sam Peter is just raw, he’s crude, you know what I mean? Everyone is hopping on his bandwagon because, you know, he’s from Nigeria, and I guess everyone is trying to paint him in the same mold as Ike Ibeabuchi. Ike Ibeabuchi was a bad mother****er. He’s the kind of cat that I would…(Laughs)…that I would NOT fight. If I had a heavyweight, if I was a manager of a heavyweight, that’s the kind of mother****er we would fight for 50 million dollars! You don’t **** with him for less than that! Ike had a complete arsenal; movement, defense, had a granite chin. Sam Peter is one-dimensional. He’s a poor man’s Mike Tyson. I’m going off here. (Laughs)"

i would say he's right on the money

Um....no. Tyson had technique, speed and a variety of punches as well as power.

And why is it the best we can hope for anyway? Quite frankly I'd rather watch Chris Byrd than Sam Peter.

He's tough, he's strong, he's powerful, and he has an iron chin. He wont be a great heavyweight by any means, but with today's talent, he may be good enough to be around the top and collect some belts. He's more of a poor man's George Foreman than a poor man's Mike Tyson.

Except Bentt said that about a year or so ago, didn't he? Before the two Peter-Toney fights?

Samuel Peter straightened up his punches and showed a jab and counter punching against Toney. We'll soon find out if that was an aberration or the real Sam Peter.

Anyone who compares Peter to Tyson in any way other than chin or power doesn't know what the **** they're talking about.

When you watch a Heavyweight boxing match - most people want to see a Knock Out. They don't really want to see a good boxing match that goes 12 rounds. Brutal Knock Out is what we want - pure entertainment. In that sense - Sam Peter is very entertaining.

He may not be one of the better Boxers in the Heavyweight Division - but knowing that he has the KO power to end the fight at any moment keeps most of us watching him.

you may not have noticed, but peter's ko 'power' only seems to work against c-class bums who know that they are there to lose.

Right. Having power (even if its not as powerful as its touted as being) is not doing you any good if you don't have the skills to deliver it.

And I think to call Peter a poor man's Tyson is giving Peter waaaaaaaaaay too much credit. Peter is not good enough to even be called a poor man's Tyson, as Tyson was the total package who was ultra fast, skilled, conditoined, powerful, iron chinned,etc.........., and Peter has some decent power, and not much else. LOL So Peter is FAR from being even a poor man's Tyson. Peter would have to greatly improve to be called a poor man's Tyson.
