Default who believes that oscar should of KO'd tito in 99?

oscar believes he should of. he says in his book that he listened to his trainers too much and should of went for the ko

i am not so sure. it could all be false rumours that tito was really struggling with the weight

Emmanuel Steward.

"Trinidad would've been a tough fight for Leonard and Hearns"- Manny in the mid 90s

On DLH's Beyond the Glory episode:

"If Oscar had been aggressive, he would have knocked out Trinidad in 2 or 3 rounds"

I guess that was his way of saying "his dad never should've fired me".

If he showed the balls he did in the Quartey fight he would have done.

De La Hoya was tenative for most of that fight, but Quartey left himself open to counter left hooks when he threw and DLH took full advantage of these openings.

If he caught Trinidad with that sort of shot and dropped and hurt him, then he probably would've jumped on him. It was more a matter of opportunity than DLH having balls against Ike and lacking them against Tito.

I really don't think he would have stopped Tito, i think he employed the right gameplan.

If anyone was going to get Ko'ed it was Oscar. Look how much punishment Tito took from Hopkins before he got stopped. No way Oscar could give him that much punishment whilst being in range to be poleaxed himself.

He did the right thing boxing and moving.

Who knows he was the better boxer and could have got his shots off first but he didnt want to mix it up with Tito's power

It always baffles me that a rematch never came off

DLH should have Unan-Decisioned Tito....I'm not sure if he could've knocked him out.... He definitely had the ability to do it... but he backed off too much....
And as other people have stated... there should have been a re-match

Oscar has no accountability. Blames Roach for losing to Mayweather and blames trainers for listening to them in the Tito fight (A fight he won... so how can he blame them?). His excuses are non-ending.

And a voice of reason speaks.

Oscar did the right thing by boxing, anything else and he could have been in danger of getting kayoed.

And the thing is, Alcazar and Clancy just told him to box. They didn't tell him to stay away and give away the rounds, at least not from the HBO broadcast I saw when they showed the corner instructions. Clancy said "box, box, box". Alcazar told Oscar to make sure he won the rounds.

The problem was that DLH let Tito back into the fight with a third to go. Tito looked befuddled, tired and frustrated because he could not catch DLH. His nose bleeding did not help either, even walking back to his corner you saw signs of resignation.

However, DLH eased of the gas , applied less pressure and boxed very safe and that formula gave Tito his second wind. If Oscar would have pressed on I am convinced he could have gotten a TKO. Nevertheless IMO DLH won the fight.

BTW, Tito's dad did not want a rematch, he knew lightning only strikes once.

He should've stuck to what he did the first 5 or 6 rounds & go for the decision. You start looking for a knockout over Trinidad at this weight & you get your clock cleaned.
