According to reports on various internet sites, it will be Alexander Dimitrenko vs. Kubrat Pulev for the vacant European Heavyweight Title. The title became vacant because Robert Helenius will be unable to defend it for many months because of his upcoming surgery.
The EBU has set the purse bids for Jan 30. This is an interesting matchup. Let's hope Dimitrenko will have the courage to go through with it. Last edited by Joe_MacKenzie; 03-05-2012 at 03:16 PM. |

Sweet.
As a bulgarian I've been waiting for something like this. The only mystery in Pulev's last few fights was how exactly he's going to win. He was tested in some way against Travis Walker, but I don't see how he could go forward with fights like his last one. It's a fight which Kubrat really needed. I know very well he's not a world champ material, but I'm curious to see how far he could go in the sport. Dimitrenko is a good step for him |

I'd just like to see him get himself into a bit better shape. He was a bit faster in his early fights weighing 240-243 than in recent ones at 250-253. |

I sure hope this happens but I won't be surprised if Dimitrenko backs out, because this is a risky fight for him. If it does happen then it's a great eliminator to produce a new K2 challenger.
Good fight and hard to call--I think Pulev would be the favorite to win by decision. |

Pulev exposes Dimitrenko, wins this easily by UD
Hopefully this is one step closer for Pulev to a Klitschko fight |

Great match up, probably the perfect match up for pulev at this stage, and Dimitrenko needs a win against an opponent like pulev to improve his reputation.
Possibly not a great exciting fight though, both tend to punch for points rather than for the knockout |

Pulev is no where near to challenge one of the brothers. I give him a good chance vs DImitrenko, but the judges might do a number on him. Im rooting for Pulev.

Good match-up.
Someone like Dimitrenko will be great for Pulev's credibility - and Pulev should ensure that Dimitrenko isn't in another stinker. This is good for both, and really good for whoever wins. |
