It would be interesting to see how Mosley's offense and aggressivenes would fair against Mayweather's defense.

I just don't think Mosley has the footspeed, which is why I give Pacquiao a better chance, despite the fact that I also can't see him winning. Were Pacquiao the same size as Floyd things would be different.

So was Margarito, taller and bigger. Thats why I say the technical aspect of this fight is the factor. Mosley was successful against ODLH, but De La Hoya is basically a one armed fighter. Mayweather is a complete fighter.

Pac has the speed but I think Floyd would make him look like the technical mess I still believe he is.

The best opponents Mayweather can fight to prove himself all come with built in excuses too.....

Mosely - 37 yrs old, had his last great effort vs Margarito.
Margarito - Punch resistance gone, took too many shots, check out his fight with Shane.
Pacquiao - Too small.
Cotto - Ruined by Margarito, not the same fighter since.

This IS what we will hear EVEN IF Mayweather dominates all 4 men, I dont know what FMJ can do to get recognized as one of the true ATGs, there are just too many people unwilling to give him credit.

I`d like someone to please tell me which future fights within reason Mayweather has to win to be ranked with the greats, I`ll be fascinated to learn who these men are.

Also LeftHook, I wasn't saying taller opponents trouble Mosley. Just that as well as being good boxers with good jabs Winky and Forrest were taller. Floyd isn't, and isn't as rangy. Margarito may have been taller but he's hardly known for fighting tall, is he?

I think he's become better technically than Mosley is or ever was.

True. But don't you think that Mosley's superior chin and strength would allow him a better shot at beating Floyd. I would love to see Floyd coast back to the ropes and take the heavy handed assault Shane would throw at him. I think his arms would be ****ed by the championship rounds.

You don't exactly need a great chin to deal with Floyd, so I don't think it matters too much one way or the other. I think Pacquiao is pretty damn durable in his own right these days. As far as strength goes, if you can't get to him to muscle him around, it doesn't really matter. You need the footspeed to reach Floyd, which I think Pacquiao has, along with the explosive firepower and workrate needed to offset his defense. The only thing Pac lacks is the size and reach to make his way in without being countered prior to letting his power be felt. Therefore I see Floyd winning an 8-4 type decision.

Pacquiao has improved his fundamentals since his schooling at the hands of Marquez at featherweight (after round one), no doubt. But we can't jump all over this claiming he's technically sound yet. He hasn't been back in with too many boxer types to test such technique yet. There was Marquez again, sure, and i thought Pac won that, but i know most of you don't. And that could simply be a case of a man learning from a bad performance and ad******g for the rematch, rather than him purely going from technically bad to technically great overnight at such an advanced stage of his career.

I still think Pacquiao is the only man that has a chance against Mayweather. By the way, one of the reasons Mayweather wins all the time is simple and a fact. He's very ****ing good.

I dont. He leans in and comes forward with those windmill punches. You will see Cotto take advantage of that because hes an excellent counterpuncher.

He fights fairly tall, just not as fluid behind a jab. Winky and Forrests game was and is always behind a real good jab. The similarities is the pressure. Margarito, Forrest and Winky apply alot of pressure, Floyd doesnt until the second half of the fight. Doesnt really matter how tall the fighter is only that he has a better jab, and Floyd doesnt throw a ton of punches, but hes accurate as hell and its all setup behind his jab and straight right. Hes also one of the best fighters at maintaining distance so he doesnt have to apply pressure like Forrest and Winky did until he wants to, which is usually why he almost always comes on stronger in the second half of his fights.

Mayweather doesn't throw many combinations these days. Not as many as in his younger days.
