Default Kharitonov vs Overeem II...what the hell was that??!!

weirdest fight i've seen in a while...
seriously , wtf was that?

I don't even know what to think about it... should i be disappointed or impressed? lol what the ****?!

On one side , there's Overeem...who started with a solid gameplan...using kicks and punches at a good rythm..

On the other...
Kharitonov....robotic...moving like a +40 george Foreman and eating punches after punches without reacting...

then he begins to attack overeem , eats more punches...then continues to attack like a slow robot..then overeem is hurt...then overeem is running away...and has no more stamina...and kharitonov finishes him off..

what a huge ****ing difference...
when you watch kharitonov vs rizzo for example..
in that fight , he was accurate , fast and had a great technic and he was very active...

Overeem has no heart, chin, or stamina. And Kharitonov needs to get in shape.

3 years ago I had Kharinonov pegged as Fedor's sucessor. Now he looks fat, slow, and has no head or lateral movement whatsoever. Damn shame.

Overeem looks like the perfect fighter. He's tall, with excellent range and leverage, but also powerfully built (so much so that it looks like he's recently used roids). The guy is also a high-level striker. You would think with that body and striking, he would be good. Instead, he's just a waste of talent. I put him in the same category as Ninja Rua, and beg the question, how the hell can you be so bad?

K-1 doesn't test either. In fact, K-1 is known to encourage it while Pride just turned a blind eye.

No, not really, or at least anything that anyone who follows K-1 could find out. Mr. Ishii has said that he wants the fighters to look like larger than life superheros. Look at Bob Sapp. K-1 and the Japanese public do not care whether fighters use steroids or not. They are not illegal in Japan. Sergei is just fat and doesn't train. If he was ever on steroids he should fire his dealer because he's always had a **** body.

Japan has a fascination for large fighters hence the popularity of the Sumo wrestlers.I guess the Koreans must also subscribe to a similar philosophy. As for steroids, its rife in MMA.I doubt that is going to change.

I thought Sergei fought rather well actually, Overeem is a very dangerous striker, and Sergei knocked him out. Sergei fought the way he always fights, a very traditional Russian boxing style, a good left leg kick, and mixing in throws when he can. Although in this fight he kept missing the headlock throw, but he did have an excellent Kimura/trip throw. Sergei did what he always does.

Kharitonov is one of the best HW's in the world! He just KO'd a world class kickboxer standing up.

The first was a total fluke , Kharitonov hurt his shoulder. So, it was nice to avenge a loss.

Well, Sergei is a good striker himself. He reached the quarter finals of the Russian nationals in boxing last year.

That is intresting. So you can be a professional MMA fighter and but still maintain amatuer boxing status. Having never been paid to box.

Yeah, he is a pretty good puncher . That is a good acomplishment to make it to the Semi - finals , there are many talented amatuer boxers in Russia.

He's been competing as an amateur boxer all through his pro MMA days and holds the Russian Master of Sports in boxing. Never made the real amateur top, but has been hanging around the top 6 in Russia.
