Default Tyson's best victories ...

... in terms of impressiveness I think:

1. Berbick
2. Spinks
3. Holmes
4. Biggs
5. Thomas
6. Bruno II

Opinions?

A solid list.

I may be inclined to put the Tubbs victory at #4 instead of the Biggs fight, but otherwise your list is very good.

Berbick - Showed impressive maturity and patience. Fantastic knockout.

Spinks - Blasts out the lineal champ in double quick time.

Holmes - Is patient and lands a beautiful right hand and finishes off a still-dangerous (but past it) Larry Holmes.

Tubbs - Shows some decent inside technique and unleashes his heavy artillery against the underrated Tubbs. KO was superb.

Thomas - The way Tyson zeroed in on his wounded foe is the stuff of legend. Comparable to a prime Dempsey.

Bruno 2 - The real Tyson's back! Just overwhelming attacking prowess and ferocity.

Fair enough, that's understandable I suppose. Thomas was a better pro fighter than Biggs, that's unquestionable- however Tyson's performance vs Biggs performance was quite simply a blistering, dominating blitz. A heavy body attack round-after-round, broke Biggs: followed by that spectacular first knockdown, then KO.

His performance vs Thomas didn't impress me quite that much. Thomas was definitely aging and past his best, despite that Mike certainly didn't have it his own way. I only had him a couple of points up by the time of stoppage (6th). Credit where it's due Pinklon boxed smartly behind the jab and was well in the contest- before that cracking left hook shook him and barrage of unanswered punches finished matters with stunning and brutal abruptness.

I would put the victory against botha.Only because he was being dominated and just when the commentator said mike is shot BANG what a punch.

Botha is down by a short right that would of ko'd any1.

The thing that I liked about the Biggs fight is both the patience and body attack Tyson displayed. The patience seems to have been down to a desire to torture Biggs a bit longer in there, but in doing so it allowed Tyson to display more of his skills than if he'd just gone in swinging for a quick KO.

Spinks
Ruddock
Tucker
Thomas
Berbick

These are probably my top picks. The Berbick fight was an extremely impressive feat, given that Mike was only 20 years old, and Trevor was coming off a big win over Pinklon Thomas. What's more, he was one of only 2 fighters to stop Berbick in a 62 pro fight career. The Spinks fight was a great display as well, although I'm not sure that this was the best version MS. Ruddock was good win over a solid contender who posed a great threat to a lot of heavyweights at the time. Tucker had a bit of a padded record, but was unbeaten in 35 fights nevertheless, and Tyson showed a lot of savvy in going 12 rounds against a much bigger and more experienced man.
