Default Abraham vs. Sturm in talks for summer

According to the German television Sat1, European boxing stars "King" Arthur Abraham and Felix Sturm are currently in talks for the long anticipated showdown which could finally take place this summer.

The fight could take place as early as June, and the targeted location is the Olympic Stadium in Berlin, with the capacity of 80.000 people.

Of course, Abraham first needs to get past the Smith rematch in February.

Sergio was a non-factor back when the Abraham/Pavlik/Sturm triangle was at its peak. He wasn't even a middleweight yet, I don't think.

Yes. Too bad they never managed to get any of those fights to happen. They should've created some mini-tourney to determine the undisputed #1.

Yeah.

Crazy that all three of them wound up campaigning at super middle past their primes in the last few years and still never met up in the ring (until now, if anything comes of this)

I could possibly understand Pavlik not going to Germany, but Sturm and Abraham failing to fight each other, that's just amazing.

Also Jermain Taylor is party to blame because he just dropped the belts instead of facing Abraham and Sturm, allowing them to establish themselves. By the time Pavlik beat Taylor, that title wasn't even close to undisputed anymore.

Sturm said to me last week "it's fifty-fifty". He only will fight if he can be promoter. He doesn't want a second bout against Stieglitz.

Next opponent? Maybe Fedor Chudinov for the WBA Interim title

50-50 that it will happen or he gives himself a 50-50 shot with Abraham?

Probably 50-50 for the fight happening.

Sturm likely does want to co-promote the event, but hopefully Sauerland agrees to that. Would be terrible if they actually managed to screw up again. However, Sat1 came up with the fresh and positive news so hopefully they will work it out. We'll see.

Fighting for an interim belt would be a bad decision imo.

50-50 that it will happen. And he wants to fight on May (18 th June, Ramadan begins). In the undercard, Maurice Weber for a regional WBA belt.

I forgot he was Muslim.

Sturm promotes Weber, doesn't he? That's kind of a sudden acceleration going from opponents with mostly losing records in 8-rounders to even a minor regional titlist. Last time he was moved that fast it cost Weber his zero.

Yes, Sturm promotes Weber, who is 33 years old. Maybe that's his top.

"Koko" Konrad is other boxer promoted by him. Kentikian, too. All in WBA.

Konrad was supposed to fight Edison Miranda a couple of years ago, but I have not really heard much from him since then. Sturm likes to move his guys along very slowly, it seems. (but not girls - Kentikian at least faces stiff tests)

The fight is in jeopardy right now, as Sturm is offered to fight for the vacant IBF title against Hassan N'Dam.

We'll see what happens next.
