Default What if Lewis had beaten Vitali by decision?

Okay here's the scenario: the Lewis - Klitschko fight was allowed to continue, the corner did a great job on the cut or whatever and the two fought the rest of the fight to a decision.

My question is, let's say Lewis won the decision: he dominated Vitali up until the final bell, albeit Vitali with a pizza face.

Would all the Klit-lickers/Klit-nuthuggers/Klit-ballgobblers/Klit-bitches shut up and admit that Lewis is the man? Or would they use an excuse such as "Yeah, Lewis won but if Vitali hadn't had his face torn he would've continued his impressive form from the early stages on throughout the rest of the fight... Therefore Lewis's victory is devalued and deceptive."

Let's just say there is always an excuse to be had if you're looking for one.

Although it was far from Lennox's best performance,he was coming into the fight at the time of the stoppage. If it had n't been for Vitali's cuts it could have lasted the distance. In the event of a Lewis victory there would have been demands for a rematch, which imo Lewis would have won.

What about another alternative: Lewis is still the man but Vitali fought a valiant effort, despite losing.

I think Lennox could have knocked him out, the last 3 rounds he was just starting to land his best biggest punches. Vitali was hanging on for dear life, could he keep taking those punches as he got more groggy? I'm sure it would have been back and forth with Vitali landing more arm punches, but Lennox landing the bigger more telling punches. 1 things for sure the cut would have got worse as Lennox worked it over. I wonder if Vitali could have been potentially blinded if the fight continued

Can't see it, not from the 'It was a headbutt...no wait it was laces...no wait it was sharp hair...' crowd. Most of these Klitschko people on the GF aren't even boxing fans, to them everybody's crap except the Klitschko's and the guy's the Klitschko's have fought-look at the Gf now, Arreola would apparently win a toe to toe war with Tua. Some of them you might notice only ever praise white boxers.

Absolutely.
But the cut stopped Klitschko form getting KO'd between 8-10 rounds in my humble opinion. Lewis fought very similarly to the Bruno fight, very slow start and took a few rounds to get used to a bigger jab and get his range.

Lewis was in piss ass condition for the fight. I am sure Lewis was done with boxing or he would of got back in better shape and beat Vitali. This only shows how bad Vitali is actually, fighting a out of shape past his peak fighter and still struggling to really do anything.

If Lewis would of knocked Vitali out with one punch in the first round Vitali's european fans would still find a excuse.

It is a long shot. Lewis was down 4-2 on all three cards. This means he has to win 4 of the next 6 rounds on at least two cards to produce a draw.

Lewis has no stoppage wins past 8 in his career, and he was tiring at the end of the 6th.

Therfore, Lewis on points is unlikely.

Who posted that?
Quote of the week material that is, absolutely priceless. Nearly as priceless as "Chagaev would be a top 5 in almost every decade of HW boxing"

why do people ignore the fact, that Lennox Lewis was out of shape in this fight..?

His timeing, and speed was WAY WAY off.

So he resorted to a bullish style of fighting, which actually made it a better fight.

I think Lewis would have won on points or a late stoppage.

The fight had begun to turn and Lewis looked to be the one in control by the time the fight was stopped.

Those big uppercuts were beginning to get through far to often and winning at least four of the next next six rounds didn't look impossible.

I can't think of any fight that spawned as much discussion as this one. It's been six years but the same topics keep getting recycled and it seems like this one never gets old. It's even reached the classic section now.
