Foreman did stop Chuvalo. Not a KO, but a TKO caused by accumulation.

Good point. I hadn't thought of that, but it makes sense- it was Lewis's bodypunches, for instance, which cause Mercer to gas in their fight and allowed Lewis to pick up the last four rounds or so.

Foreman was effective to the body. As soon as he got a guy on the ropes he swung like crazy at their ribs.

I see that going like the George Chuvalo or Luis Pires fight. Foreman would connect with a few hard head shots, Mercer, like Pires and Chuvalo, would cover up on the ropes, and then punished severely to the body. However, Mercer couldn't take the punishments.

Foreman by TKO in 4.

Mercer would have chance to beat a prime Foreman. Mercer is better than Ron Lyle, and he hit harder too. It would have been great fight to watch.

Are you pointing at me mate?
I never said that Lewis hits as hard, I only said Foreman made a very credible comment, and Lewis is just a level under Foreman. There's really not that big difference, really....

Man, this is something to think about for sure. I see Foreman being a better fighter in his comeback. There are big differences between a younger Foreman and the older, more wise Foreman. The one thing that didn't change is his ability to hit. I realize that Mercer had a great chin, but Foreman could take a punch too. I don't see Mercer running from Foreman. That is where the mistake would happen....just as it did for Smokin Joe...who isn't given due credit for his boxing ability. Joe had a good chin too....it just didn't look that way against Foreman. He actually stood up to a lot from Foreman. Back to Mercer/Foreman. Enough would be enough. The fight would be stopped to save Mercer from severe damage.

Anybody who thinks it is a joke to compare Lewis' punching power to Foreman's is a joke himself.

Lewis is a much bigger guy compared to Foreman. And I am not talking about Valuev, or Austin like what I anticipate some morons would point out. I am talking about the proven puncher Lennox Lewis, not just another 250 lbs journeyman.

To put inot perspective, Lewis weighed 256 lbs against Vitali, and he still look ripped. Foreman of the 90s weighed 256 lbs and looked awfully fat. The point here is that Lewis is naturally bigger guy than Foreman and with that weight put behind a well placed and leveraged punch, Lewis could very well hit just as hard as Foreman.

Foreman is naturally Heavyhanded, Lewis was shown how to punch hard through lots of practice. While I think Lewis is up there Power wise with Foreman, but when you look at Foremans ko ratio its one of best at what like 88%. Lewis I dont think has the one punch knockout power of big George, close but not as powerful .

Mercer the same lazy piece of crap that lost to Jesse Ferguson and an old Larry Holmes, beating Foreman? No way. Foreman pounds him to a UD. Mercer could take a big shot in his prime, but he was never that great. His power was overated with the destruction of Tommy glass chinned Morrison, but other than that not alot of kO's on his record. George by easy UD.
