Good read. Sounds promising. The guy's got the right ideas but he knows it's going to be hard so was refreshing to hear him be honest and not bullshit us. Thanks Dunners.

I wouldn't mind paying a monthly fee if we get one 'second tier' big card and a couple of smaller cards a month.

Like the guy says, sky basically caters for the huge fights out there...its the next tier of fights that we miss out on. The Andrade-Bute fight with Guzman-Funeka on the undercard would be a great second tier card to watch. I would defo pay for that.

thanks for sharing

this is very encouraging, i hope they can make it work, he seems a genuine bloke who wants to provide at least the option to be able to watch these disgracefully neglected fights on British TV, all the best to them.

the tenner or so a month for certain amount of guarenteed cards is a brillient idea and i would happily subscribe.

Same here, the reason I don't pay for Sky is its not worth 40+ for the rest of the shit. If it was less money for boxing only then I'd def. be interested.

What about that stupid fight poster in your avatar, SKY doing their best to make this fight look like Haye is a midget...

Shocking stuff, when everyone with a boxing brain knows that Valuev was always shit, only now hes past his prime too!

This fight is going to be a re-run of Michael Moorer vs Mike the Giant White.
Its as simple as that really....

David v Goliath, dont make me laugh.

Its a stick on win for Haye. All he needs to do is not be hit for 12 rounds, & against that big non-punching sloath, its going to be all to easy for Haye. & he knows it.

Its going to be sickening when Haye wins, & the uneducated masses bombard the forum with Hayemania...

I got my fingers in my ears in anticipation of the verbal onslaught already!
Oh Dunky, seriously: shut up. Do you post anything positive on these forums, you grumpy jock? You could respond to the point of the thread, that someone is making an effort to show decent fights in the UK, but you’d rather extend on your hate for a guy who, unlike Alex Arthur or Scott Harrison, has tried to use their talent to achieve something.

Hearts in the right place. They have my backing. If no where is going to pick up certain events then I welcome Primetime giving us that choice.

I'll gladly pay 5 for a decent fight that isn't getting coverage elsewhere. Maybe the guys like Bute, Pascal, Lopez, Gamboa, Kessler, Abraham, Huck, Adamek, Cunningham, Bradley... guys that just wouldn't get coverage on UK tv.

It's a great idea and encourages them to buy fights that the fans want to see. I mean, they just need to pop onto ESB and BoxRec to ask what fights we're excited about.

I personally cannot see why Primetime cannot buy the Top Rank and the Sauerland contracts that Setanta had, if Khan was not on December the 5th we could of had capt'n Huck vs. Ola Afolabi and should of Pavlik been fit Pavlik Williams on a double header like Setanta had...

Or sign a TV deal with the Likes of Showtime, HBO (Boxing aftr dark, World Championship Boxing) or Versus... A bitlike the Super Channel in Canada

None of the networks you list have the rights to sell fights. The TV rights remain with the promoter, so Primetime would have to negotiate with each event's team for the international rights.

I think it's wise to see how well the model works. People are obviously keen to see these fights and it obviously did enough to make it feasible to try again. That's encouraging.

It depends what kind of capital they've got to hand. You can't sign a contract for a year for alot of money when you need the money from your first show to pay for the content of the second one.

Very good a interview that man seems to know his stuff. He reliase boxing is a niche sport. Also interesting that he or a menber of his staff view these forums and others.I would like primetime to survive and be successful. The problem with the ppv business model is how to create stars and to sell it to casual fans.Hbo had to create 24/7 to do this. Some ideas i think could help primetime
Show classic fights like gatti/ward or ring fights of the year
Put the bunce boxing hour on weekly on freeview
Buy fights that appeal to other markets not just hardcore fans eg pinoy power cards or fights like adamek/glotta these could be advertised cheaply in polish etc papers
Show other niche sports like non ufc mma or ice hockey
Show docus like hbo's legendary nights
Show the boxing ams
Also a top card or account payment system
Try and get the channel number down from 480 to sometime closer to the main skysport channels
Anyone got any other ideas

Thats a real no brainer, an excellent idea. Wouldn't be expensive. Instead we get the same old fights on ESPN classic which we've all seen thousands of times.

I became a fight fan twenty odd years ago watching classic fights with my old man.
