For all who have not seen Jamie Pittman in action here is some footage for you. As you will see, very quick, and very hard to hit cleanly.
A very awkward guy to fight, who will be a hard fight for ANYONE right now in the 160 pound division. I like the way he keeps his hands up, and employs the turtle shell defence in close quarters, which for southpaws is usually extremely effective. I don't think he will ever be an exciting KO artist, but I am thinking if he can be managed correctly, can become a fighter much like Winky Wright, who is VERY hard to win a decision against. |

Pretty interesting though. He isn't a great finisher, bu he is very awkward and hard to beat. A lot of times in his fights, guys just go ultra defensive, and he doesn't really let his hands go to get the KO. He still shuts them out though completely, and I can see him doing the same even as he steps his competition up. |

Pittman fights at a much faster pace in an actual fight obviously, as would Bika. This is far from hard sprring, but still interesting anyway. |

He fights similar to Kessler in that he lives off his one two. And he uses quick foot movement in and out. His speed is probably comparable to Mundine's IMO, in an actual fight when he really lets them go. He isn't a KO puncher, and isn't the greatest offensive fighter. Most of his fights i have seen, the opponent realises they are well outclassed and then goes into their shell early. He usually then just proceeds to outbox them instead of looking for the KO. Still, due to his style and southpaw stance, he would give a guy like Sturm fits, provided he can handle a world class pace and his chin holds up. |

I stand by my selection, but I am aware not just that a very good case could be made for another one, but that I might be way off, in certain cases...but hey...I'm not a good analyst and I might be biased too, without realising it...(I know, for example, that I am biased where Bute is concerned...) ...about Mundine and Bute...I think the first is over the hill, whereas the latter is up and coming...at the beginning of the year Mundine would have beaten Bute...In January next year, the earliest they could meet, Bute would beat Mundine... |
