Chris Byrd vs Jimmy Thunder, as posted by another forum member in classic. Great fight. Can't have another scorecard unless you like bodypunches to the elbow- round 1 10-8 to Byrd then the rest of the rounds 10-9 until the finish in round 9. You rarely see such clinical performances from heavyweights, never mind one's put under heavy pressure from the get-go.

Watched the second Ali-Frazier today. I scored it a draw, 6 rounds apiece. Ali held and threw many punches of little effect, Frazier boring in trying to work the body and loop wide shots over the top.
I was surprised at the quality of the fight, from what I had heard/read before it was a disappointment, but I very much enjoyed it. |

I really liked Villaflor's ko's of Shibata and Uehara.
Always had a soft spot for this kind of fighters. How highly do you rate Villaflor, Flea? I've heard some people claiming Villaflor was one of the hardest punchers the super feather division has ever seen. Is it true he has never been down or even stunned during his entire career? I need some info! And tell me more about Pichit Sitbangprachan too! Last edited by Lester1583; 09-09-2012 at 04:17 PM. |

Yes, never down in his career.
I think he struggled in the first Shibata fight. Dodntthrow much and really seemed to be conserving energy. But yeah, seems a beast at the weight judging by the early stoppages we have. I have the Serrano bout but haven't watched it in a while, you seen it? |

I heard it was a robbery though - supposedly Serrano deserved to win this one. Villaflor retired at the age of 23 - If I remember correctly serious hand injuries were the cause of early retirement. By the way the first Serrano fight was postponed for two weeks because of Villaflor's hand injury. Last edited by Lester1583; 09-09-2012 at 05:48 PM. |

John Conteh-Yaqui Lopez.
To be able to beat convincingly a good tough opponent with just one hand is impressive. What's even more noteworthy is that Yaqui clearly respected Conteh's power. And I've heard some people saying Conteh's power wasn't impressive. ![]() Conteh's left hand was quality. Conteh-Yaqui is an underrated boxing masterclass. Bob Foster kept repeating during the fight that he'll fight Conteh (and Galindez) in the near future - wonder why these two haven't met somewhere in 1977? Despite looking terrible againt Parlov Conteh still won that fight.
Conteh was robbed And Conteh's heart deserves a mention - the 15th round was great. I gotta admit even though he wasn't an iron-chinned southpaw puncher from Thailand I still like him. |
