John Conteh-Yaqui Lopez.

To be able to beat convincingly a good tough opponent with just one hand is impressive.

What's even more noteworthy is that Yaqui clearly respected Conteh's power.

And I've heard some people saying Conteh's power wasn't impressive.

Conteh's left hand was quality.

Conteh-Yaqui is an underrated boxing masterclass.

Bob Foster kept repeating during the fight that he'll fight Conteh (and Galindez) in the near future - wonder why these two haven't met somewhere in 1977?

Despite looking terrible againt Parlov Conteh still won that fight.

Conteh was robbed

And Conteh's heart deserves a mention - the 15th round was great.

I gotta admit even though he wasn't an iron-chinned southpaw puncher from Thailand I still like him.

Think about this : his identical twin brother was a long time titlist @ 115 during d same time and u claim that he was drained @ 118 .

Still possible that he was drained but regardless , he was acting .

Conteh was an excellent fighter.

A wasted talent.

I like his "bigger version of Napoles" style.

I have him at #8 on my Top 10 light heavyweight list:

1. Michalczewski (24 defenses of WBO title - mind-boggling)
2. Calzaghe (46-0, there's no blueprint etc)
3. Hopkins (unknockoutable at lhw)
4. Zsolt Erdei (11 defenses of WBO title, 33-0)
5. Tarver (beat prime Jones 3 times)
6. Stipe Drews (an obscure ATG, you don't know him)
7. Victor Foster (another obscure 70's fighter, you should boxrec him)
9. Bobby Czyz (relentless warrior, almost made Holyfield quit)
8. John Conteh

Yes, my top 10 consists of 8 fighters.

Looked to me like he fainted. I don't think you realise how hard it is for some fighters to make the weight.

he sat down without ever being hit .
he did not even use his legs 4 it was still d 1st rd .

I do realize how hard it is 4 some fighters 2 make d weight but his identical twin still made 115 back then as a reigning titlist so how drained do u think that he was @ 118 ? even if he was , not 2d extent u2 claim that he was .

It was a blatant , obvious dive .

Maybe he was drained but he took a dive .

He did , u post **** . it is obvious that he took a dive .

even drained fighters need some time 2 get tired .
as opposed 2 less than 1 not very physical and not very action packed 1st rd .

I don't see how his brother doing the weight has got anything to do with him doing the weight even if they are identical twins.

god told me in my dream that identical twins might have some genetic resemblance which just might b magnified a bit in cases when they grow up 2gether in d same environment and **** .

Might have been d devil though .

God Xpects d twin brother of some1 capable of making 115 2b able 2 make at least 118 during d same time his brother makes 115 .

It is possible that he was still drained , but i have seen plenty of drained fighters and they never go down & out so easily and quickly during d 1st rd without being punched , u know ?

this is just god's **** .

Even if they have got genetic resemblance doesn't mean they will do the weight the same. There are other intangibles like mental attitude, training complications, outside influences. One fighter can have weight problems for a fight and less problems in his next for example depending on all kind of reasons and you think that just because they are twins it will be the same for them doing the weight.

Not d same , Khaosai made 115 during all of his long reign , and u claim that his identical twin could not make 118 during that same time , not d 115 of his identical twin brother , but 118 .

U still do not get it .

Khaosai successfully made 115 during d same time that his brother failed 2 even make d higher 118 .

How many times should i repeat it and in how many different forms ?

Regarding these other "intangibles" , they grew at d same environment at d same time , did they not ?

But i still did not completely rule out d possibility that he was drained .

I answered about it as well , u either did not read my posts or failed 2 comprehend them .

I answered about each 1 of d possibilities and explained Y he took a dive , (whether he was) drained or not .
