Very entertaining fight, I really believe Santa Cruz is really going to be something special! Imo, he's going to be the next great Mexican superstar and boxing legend. I know it's still early in his career, but he just has that special something about him that you usually see in future ATG's. After watching what is supposed to be his last fight at bantamweight, a move up too 122 brings with it the possibility of so many great matchups, and a chance to really get his name shot straight into the stratosphere, and pound for pound rankings.

How Morel (5) is still ranked 2 slots ahead of Santa Cruz (7) at BW after getting dominated and stopped for the first time in his career, after 5 rounds is beyond me.

122. LEO SANTA CRUZ 50 | 44 ERIC MOREL

LSC vs EM
10-9

Ratings don't get updated immediately.

Also, chill out on your lofty ranking for Santa Cruz. This is why fighters get labelled 'overrated'.

Relax it's not often I sing the praises of any one particular fighter to the degree I have Leo Santa Cru. And besides LSC is still not very widely talked about even here at ESB. I think his reputation will be fine with just one overzealous fan, besides I can't help it the dude is awesome.

Hey man, I got no problems with you singing his praises, I've seen a couple of guys go way more overboard than you are and that was maybe a year before he fought Morel! Don't worry; he's well known on ESB

I just can't stand 'future ATG'. Really annoying.

As for the rankings I assumed you were talking about The Ring's? If so they change the stats pretty soon after they change but the rankings don't change until their next meeting/voting process. So if no.6 beats no.5 they don't just switch places

Knowing how shocking The Ring ratings are nowadays, Santa Cruz will probably be no.2 now But as he battered a *** offender, I'd be cool with that

I feel ya man, and I like your style no worries, in the future I will refrain from any further "Future All Time Great" talk . As I can certainly understand how tiresome that could become if faced with it enough

Edit* Lol, oops yes I was referring to The Ring's rankings I hadn't ever realized that Ring Rated fighters records did change after fights, but the actual ranking they hold themselves doesn't adjust till the next 30 cycle. Oh I was also thrilled he beat Morel's rapist ass down and wouldn't argue one bit if he shot from 7th to the top

Yeah, Medel's record is deceiving.

He was a sneaky bastard.

I still can't forgive him for what he did to Masahiko

Very deceiving and yes, a very sneaky puncher. I'm a really big fan of his. You seen him lure in Walter McGowan?

No.

How did it happen?

The centre of the ring? On the ropes?

Medel was especially dangerous fighting off the ropes.

Yeah, one of his classics. McGowan doing his usual, trying to fight when he should be boxing, and Medel sets him up and blasts him. McGowan gets up but he's badly hurt.

If it's not on YouTube let me know and I'll upload it

One of the three (?) pre-title Galaxy fights available on film.

I've read that another available pre-title Galaxy fight against future bantamweight champion Chan-Young Park was a tough points win (obviously) for Galaxy
as Park was outboxing Galaxy and winning the first half of the fight but as usual Khaosai's godly powah and stamina made the difference in the end.

Got to add that was a bad matchup for McGowan. I think he'd had about 20 fights, he was a flyweight and Medel was no1 contender for the bantamweight title with 80 odd fights under his belt. McGowan had just beaten the very highly regarded French bantamweight Felix Brami and looked brilliant doing it. I think they got a bit carried away with themselves taking on Medel at that point. A lot of those Mexican bantams at the time were sneaky old and even young for that matter pros. They had to be to fight there way through the talent that was about them in their own country. I'd say to be bantam champ of Mexico at that time was worth more than any "world" title these days.
