Who were the best to fight mainly in one of the classic seven (Heavyweights obviously excluded) divisions?
The criterion is: A fighter must of fought for an eight year period (or there entire career if less) in a division: Light Heavyweight: above 160 to 175 Middleweight: above 147 to 160 Welterweight: above 135 to 147 Lightweight: above 126 to 135 Featherweight: above 118 to 126 Bantamweight: above 112 to 118 Flyweight: up to 112 Common sense can be used when a fighter is a few pounds over the limit in a non title bout, or has one bout at another division before coming back down (Napoles or Foster being examples). Also, it is clear early on, particularly in the lower weights, the divisions weight limits were structured different to their modern equivalents, so again common sense may be needed in coming to your conclusions. |
