Default Hatton - Collazo

How the hell did Hatton get the W looked to me like he got his ass kicked?

That's because you don't know how to score a fight.

I had Hatton winning by a point 114 -113 because of the 1st round knockdown. It should of been a draw but they never counted Callazo's knockdown.

Hatton's defence was barely existent In that fight but his workrate and conditioning helped him throw and land enough to win It.

Callazo was timing him well with counters but he figured Hatton out too late.

It's amaznig how the end of a fight changes peoples opinions. If one boxer wins the first 8 easily, then his opponent wins the last 4 decisively, people have the last rounds in their minds. They probably score it closer than it should be.

It's the same with singular rounds. I remember Leonard finishing every round strong, but in reality, Hagler won 2 minutes of those rounds. The finish was fresh in the judges minds, so he won rounds he should have lost.

I think this fight is another example of this. it was close, but because of the way it ended, I think it has effected peoples thoughts on the entire fight. Watch the first 10 rounds, and it's clear than Hatton wins 7, including the knockdown.

Collazo could never have won that fight if he went down to Ricky's very first left hook and the way he was complaining to the ref in spite of fighting back as Hatton was hammering up on him and some phlegm was dripping out of his mouth in the second round ... What happened in my view was that Ricky was strong to clinch but not to effectively close the distance and was coutered many times by the slick, fast lefty and was only hurt mid-way into the 11th, shook it off and made it to the final bell to earn a difficult, close unanimous decision, good effort to former WBA titleholder Louie Collazo in Boston though.

Though I felt Collazo won the fight, I still scored it the same as Max, for Hatton with the KD being the differnence.

Collazo was the better man and won his rounds bigger, but its just Hatton managed to win more rounds, though he wasnt overly convincing you couldnt score those rounds for Collazo.

I just rescored it:

Hatton:1,2,8,9,11
Collazo:3,5,6,7,10,12

It all depends on if you give Collazo a 10-8 for the last round or not (which you could do, Hatton hit the deck and was out on his feet). 2,3 and 11 could have gone either way

Theres a big difference between "getting his ass kicked" which is not an accurate description of the fight, and Collazo being "competitiive".Ricky had an off night, and Collazo is nobodys patsy. But what exactly is the thread creators point? Just an opportunity to dig at Hatton I suspect.

It's kind of dissapointing to me that instead of giving Hatton props for winning a close decision against a larger man, who also happens to be a southpaw who has very quick hands, they try to break him down for not having dominated Collazo

It was a very close fight.

I had Collazo ahead 114-113.

I didn't have a problem with the decision.
