Boxing is on free TV in Germany. We mostly get to see German based fighters. ARD shows fights of Sauerland, ZDF of Universum, RTL of K2 and at times other big fights like Hopkins-Calzaghe or DLH-PBF, DSF shows some smaller cards and then there is Eurosport of course.

Lots of biased chatterboxes who have no clue what they talk about= German tv commentators.
Seldom can you listen to a guy who calls a spade a spade.
The grumpy German tv commentator on eurosport is great Schneyder,or Schneider is his name.
He truly has guts! Called women's fighting a disgrace!
I love that guy!

As for the tv channels I love German tv.You can watch all big fights for free.
Quite a few GErman channels cover boxing, but not as many as about 5 years ago.
My favourite German tv channel was FAB.Former German heavy weight Monse was a great tv commentator.FAB covered the little fight shows which you can rarely see on the big German tv channels.

The GErmans and German tv love big entrance shows as well as weird english speaking rock bands who are tough to stand for a foreign spectator.
National anthems are important,too.

As for the crowds they are not as noisy as in other parts of europe. However, every dagger has two blades.
Hardly can you see any fights in the crowds or aggressive, nationalistic,or enthusiastic behaviour.
I ve been to fight shows throughout europe-especially to shows in the czech republic, the UK,Belarus, and Spain.
The Germans are not the worst crowd out there.

AS for the entrance fees they are very moderate and well-banced IMO.
I would be a poor man if I regularly attended a fight show in the UK

German tv usually covers the main event and one important undercard fight. Some tv channels also show short highlights of most of the undercard fights.

One typical characteristic of German tv is the absence of emotions.Almost never will you be able to listen to an enthusiastic tv commentator.
The Germans dont seem to like emontions on their tellies when watching boxing.

I guess it's a possibility. They showed Mayweather-De La Hoya, but not Mayweather-Hatton. It probably depends on weather they are able to get the rights cheap; RTL certainly won't spend a lot of money on a fight at 5 am at night, with two boxers who are virtually unknown in Germany.

dont hide that subscription channel Sky Germany sometimes cover Cards from USA when Íners guys are involved. Such as Gamboa vs Rojas / Aydin vs. Ouali card or Gamboa vs. Garcia / Solis vs. Barrett..

also probably another interesting fact is that V Klitschko vs Johnson average viewing rate was 11,6 millions. While Abraham vs Taylor got 6,02 millions..

That Gunter-Peter Ploog guy that commentates for ZDF is a joke. He's such a nuthugger,I don't even speak German but I do enough to understand he was suckin Sturm's balls like Gina Wild on a shooting.

The lower level DSF(I think) channel is interesting,I like it,the one that showed Botha's recent fights.

The shows on ARD and ZDF are great b/c the breaks are commercial-free! So you can hear what the coaches tell their boxers.
And the commentary is not that bad.

Ever since the Eastern Europeans have made their impact on the heavuweight division. U.S. based media have been using the excuse that all the best potential heavyweight talent are playing American football (NFL) and basketball (NBA).

Personally I think it is pure bullshit, nothing more than sour grapes, spin doctoring of the lowest order.

I was making a silly joke about German media doing the same thing, of course they do not. It was simply my way of ridiculeing U.S. boxing media through a thread about German media.

Thanks for explaining many details about German fight coverage in your prior thread. I found it interesting.

I'd say they're slim...even these commentators on the large channels don't seem to know anyone outside the heavyweights and the Universum+Sauerland fighters. The state of boxing in Germany is generally dreadful if you ask me...
