I doubt the success of boxing on television will result in a lot of good boxers in the near future - boxing is almost exclusively a spectator sport in Germany.

Anyway, here are some numbers for last year. Among the top five broadcasts of the year, two were boxing matches:

1. World Cup qualifier Russia vs. Germany -- 12.46 million / 55.6 % market share
2. Wetten, dass..? -- 11.31 million / 38.0 % market share
3. Vitali Klitschko vs. Kevin Johnson -- 11.18 million /47.2 % market share
4. Vitali Klitschko vs. Juan Carlos Gomez -- 10.86 million / 47,4 % market
share
5. Wetten, dass..? -- 10.62 million / 33.5 million market share

I remember they showed Mayweather-Hatton live at RTL.
BTW: On Jan. 23th SkySportHD shows Gamboa-Mtagwa and Lopez-Luevano.

Anybody knows about the Botha-Holyfield-fight on Jan. 16th? DSF showed his lasts fights in germany, but I havenīt heard anything about this fight yet.

that fight has been moved to 20th february.. but iīd count out that there will be a live coverage from Uganda on DSF maybe they are going to show it on a week delay when the tape has arrived which someone had sent to them by post

I have spent a lot of time in Germany and the free tv coverage is far better than in the uk.I have a satalite dish that picks up German and other european tv stations for that reason.Sky has launched itself in Germany though so things could change, the people of Germany could soon be saying"can you remember when fights were free on zdf"whilst getting thier credit cards out to pay Murdoch.I hope not!

seeing pro boxing in other countries usually is broadcasted by pay tv or pay per view only we can call ourselves lucky its on free TV here, on the flip side some of the commentators have little clue about boxing

Haye vs. Ruiz will be shown on the Austrian channel ATV. Germans should be able to get it via satellite dish.
