I rank Morales higher...Barerra seemed to somewhat have his number H2H though and appears the more rounded of the two.

Doesnt mean I rate Marco better H2H really...but one would deal with certain styles better then the other.

For me they are two warriors just about on par and I think we all can agree on that.

I dont know how to start a poll but I'll ask the simple question.
Who is considered the better fighter between the two?
Erik Morales was the better fighter with the superior record.
I also think the judges were harsh on Morales in scoring the trilogy 2-1 to MAB but even if you agree with those judges, there wasnt enough of a gap H2H to go on, you need to annalyze their entire careers.

Barrera had better longevity due to switching to a safety 1st approach, I think the KO by Junior Jones & the frantic war with Erik himself in 2000 affected him mentally, he wasnt as willing to go into the lions den, he kinda had to be forced.... Morales on the other hand was more stubborn, he waged war after war & gave us all time classic memories, abandoning his biggest strengths but still prevailing against the best until he was worn out.... I respect that more TBH.

MAB was the more effective inside fighter but EM was good there too....
EM was the better distance boxer when in boxing mood with the better jab (boxings basic tool) but MAB was a fine distance boxer himself.

Morales had the better chin & heart too.

I think Morales was the better performer when a fight wasnt going his way, Marco would sometimes get frustrated, deliberate low blows, hitting on the break etc... Morales would simply dig deep & kick it up the gears, even make it a life & death war if need be without hesitation despite his previous wars, he never let the other guy away with kicking his ass for too long.

Barrera lost & was stopped in his prime yrs, Morales never was + he did beat the 2 men that handed Barrera those prime year defeats, Jones & Pac.

I also think Morales was better overall at 122 lbs than Barrera was at any weight. Erik ranks as an ATG at SBW, thats a fact.

Morales for me

Love 'em. Want to hug them. True fighters. Mexican warrior-boxers. Don't.Make.Me.Choose.
