Default Toughest Fighters Stopped/Dropped By Bodyshots

I've always found it extremely interesting how some of the toughest fighters of all time were only stopped by bodyshots.

The first time Ray Mercer was ever dropped was from a bodyshot from Holyfield that broke one of his ribs.

The only time Jose Luis Ramirez was ever stopped was early in his career against Ruben Olivares, from a bodyshot.

Johnny Tapia's only stoppage was from a bodyshot against Sandro Marcos.

Hoya against Hopkin's, though Pacquiao beat the shit out of him en route to a stoppage years later.

Pacquiao's only two stoppages were from early career bodyshots, including a straight right to the body when he was against the ropes.

That was when he was ready to move up two weight classes in his next fight however, severely weight drained and in front of a hostile crowd. He may of just said **** it and wanted to get out of there early considering how badly drained he was. End of the fight did seem a bit off. *Shrugs*

Iron chinned android like Librado Andrade was recently stopped against Lucian Bute from a perfectly placed bodyshot.

Willie Pastrano...dancing master, boxing master Willie Pastrano was only dropped once in his entire career, at the very end in that 6th round from a WICKED body shot..a left hook to the liver from Jose Torres..it ended 2 rounds later with Willie on his stool, unable to continue. It really ruined Willie health over the years after that.

Did his liver fail later on or something?

That sounds almost unprecedented. Great shout out regardless.

Pacquiao's loss to Torrecampo was from a shot to the point of the chin.

Russell, he had liver problems after that fight..in an interview he said that he was told by those close to him to "go get it checked out"..and it contributed to his death later on.

I've heard some people say the shot bounced off his chin and then whacked him in the balls, concluding with his head bouncing off the canvas.

Wouldn't be able to say honestly, I only saw said fight once in ultra shitty quality on Youtube all of one time.

Watch this vid here. It shows the full fight, plus a slow-mo inside replay:

BORKED

I could never figure out where that punch landed either until I saw this replay.

Gotcha Sense, thank you.

Has anyone here actually seen Ramirez/Olivares?

Funny enough, the punch actually did travel from his chin down to his balls.

Sometime after Hagler's rematch with Watts, he hired on Boogaloo as a sparring partner, and Bobby seriously injured Marv in training with a body shot. While it wasn't in competition, neither was Hagler someone who took it particularly easy on his spar mates, and this incident and resulting layoff received some coverage in the Boston papers. This appears to have been a fluke happenstance, but it does raise some questions about how a body punching specialist like McCallum or Zale might have done against him.

I don't think I've ever heard any information in any of your posts from any other source. It's nice to actually come here and learn things.

Tyson made Michael Spinks drop by a bodyshot. That's all I can think of now...
