Default Discovering Vincente Saldivar.

Well his third fight with Winstone is on youtube and his losing effort to Shibata, Should I just watch the Winstone fight, or did he look good against Shibata after his lay off?

Shibata outhutled and outworked Saldivar all night long, it was a rather one-sided fight almost from the get-go and no Saldivar looked nothing like the fighter he was in this bout. As for the 3rd Winstone fight it was a good one and its on its way to you as I type this, your disks went out today.

Isn't the second Winstone fight on as well?.

The third Winstone fight is fine for seeing a prime Saldivar, though Winstone was past his best, in large part due to the punishment taken over the late rounds in their first two epic fights.still a good fight.

He's past it, but still a good fighter against Shibata, who was very good himself at that stage.Saldivar could have defeated a lesser fighter that night for sure, and gone on to make a few more defences if matched right.Well worth watching as long as you don't expect the prime version.Once Saldivar lost his legs and a step in overall sharpness, his lack of height and reach meant he dropped off really quickly.

Yeah, and the first Seki fight, plus highlights of the first Winstone fight and the Seki rematch.

Agreed. Shibata is a somewhat underrated fighter and I think could've proved troublesome for Saldivar at any stage of his career. He could be tagged early and KO'd, which was his one major weakness, but overall he was an accomplished and very capable fighter. He was very fast, skilled, and aggressive, and had some good wins in his career.

The second Winstone fight showcases the best of both men. The first 10 rounds being virtually even before Saldivar stepped it into 5th gear for the championship rounds and gave Winstone a thrashing. Great fight.

Would Shibata's vulnerability early really cosdt him against Saldivar?

Shibata had a glass chin. That's what would cost him at some point.

I actually think Shibata looked about as good as he got against Ernesto Marcel, despite taking a bit of a beatdown down the stretch. He was holding his own there for for about 10 rounds against an outstanding fighter, and showed some really quick hands and good combinations. I don't think he was ever as good after that fight.

The latter half of his career saw him get ko'ed on the odd occassion and have close either way fights with so-so fighters.

Watched some Saldivar last night and was thourghly impressed i have never seen a fighter so devastating in a shoot out the way he stays so composed while trading is superb and all his shots are hard and accurate, also he is underrated in his speed of the combinations he throws

Actually Shibata started fast and hurt Saldivar in that 1st round and more or less stayed on top after that..definitely not Saldivar at his best...I don't think Shibata would have made it past 10 with a prime Saldivar, who resembled at times a lower case Marciano with his stamina and bull strength, except he had boxing abilities as well..a great pressure fighter who gave Sugar Ramos no air at all and steamrolled his way to the title in that fight.

Shibata's chin sure gave him away in his defense against Clemente Sanchez of Mexico...Sanchez scored a classic one punch right hand knockout in 3..at the tail end of Shibata's other incarnation as champion he was blasted out in 2 by Alfredo Escalera.

No. The most I can find from anyone is 15-20 minutes of highlights.

I recently got them from Raging B(_)LL. I would've uploaded them to Youtube already, but Youtube changed the way that files upload and half the files I try to upload now fail.
