Default BJJ fighters...

I was wondering why more BJJ fighters don't tape their feet and ankles up more. Doesn't it give them traction?

Or do you need to be injured in order to tape up your legs?

I was watching Penn vs. GSP 2 and heard the remark Rogan made about traction when Penn's rubber guard was slipping off the back of GSP.

So I have heard. But never mind that. I was asking if tape actually would help with traction, why more fighters don't do it if it does, and if it is legal to do that without needing to do so because of injury.

Its legal but ive never heard of anyone taping the ankles for grappling purposes. Lots of guys like example Rich Franklin do it for their kickboxing game because of the support it gives. Some guys seem to get good traction from using knee pads or occassionally when there is tape on or around the knees. You would think the tape on the buttom the feet would help creating angles off someones hip when ad******g a triangle or rolling for an armbar. Ive never used tape on my feet/ankles in my BJJ training however so personally I cant say it would help but I think it could be a decent substitute for wrestling shoes.
