Default boxing gloves

Hey, i just recently got into boxing, and I was wondering if anyone could recommend me a pair of heavy bag gloves? I am a 6' heavyweight with reasonably big hands. I went to our local sports store, and 12 oz felt about right, although they didn't really have much of a selection, and i can get them cheaper online. I was about ready to order some cleto reyes 12 oz lace ups, but than I heard someone say Title boxing made the best gloves, and that cleto reyes and grant wore out too quickly?? is this true?

Also, do more ounces in a glove mean the fit of the glove is actually bigger, or does that just mean it has more padding.....or both?

The bigger gloves (14, and 16 oz.) seemed to shift when I hit the heavy bag...

Thanks a lot guys, this looks like an awesome forum

The everlasts are lovely gloves but as a fellow heavyweight , go for a heavier glove, and wrap as often as you can, your hands only last one lifetime, they are your most valuable asset.. Heavy wear is often better on the gloves than the hands.. remember that.. God bless..

Lonsdale / Title make good gloves that seem to offer better padding than the Everlasts but I have to say the Everlast do actually last longer. So kinda depends how much you are willing to spend. You can add extra foam pads under / over your wraps which if you are a big hitter is probably not a bad idea.

so something like that would be way to light for me?

These look a little more padded:

I can't seem to find anything bigger than 14 oz in a bag specific glove. Are training gloves good enough for hitting the heavy bag?

Thanks

Dunno about anyone else but I prefer a bag specific mitt when doing my bag work

Try something like these under your gloves and wraps

That said I'm a super middle so maybe a big lad like yourself might want to try something else

Ooooh flashy !

No excuse not to train hard now , in fact if you're going to where silver gloves down to the gym you better be ready to work extra hard. Good luck youngster !

Rival Boxing has some nice gloves. I love how they look, but you'll find them tough to work in. Once you do work them in, they're very nice to use.

i suggest everlast gloves, they have always worked great for me.....if u have the extra cash buy the better pro style training gloves because they fit much better. i have always had good experiences ordering from titleboxing.com too. they ship pretty fast
