Default Too Tall?

Hi All,

Been following the forum for a while and found alot of useful info from some very helpful people. Hopefully I can get some help with my question. Started boxing recently mainly for fitness and was thinking about taking it further. Was wondering about size though as I'm fairly tall..
I'm about 6'7 and 100 kg ( 220 lbs ). Tall and lean, not skinny really and apparently with a good frame. I'm assuming though this would make me a not very bulky heavy weight. Is this a good idea, am I too tall , is bulking up a good idea or does this sacrifice speed?

At the moment I'm not even contemplting fighting, just curious for future sake.

I'm a complete novice and any info as far as appropriate size and action to take is much appreciated.

Welcome.

You can never be too tall, especially for the HW division. 6'7" is a great advantage to have, any idea what your reach is?

As for bulking up, I'm not really the person you should be speaking to, but I'd say don't feel that you need to bulk up. If you look at the pro's, Deontay Wilder is 6'7" and only about 210. If you feel comfort and strong at the weight, then I say keep to it.

Great , Thanks for the reply

Haven't measured my reach but it's definetly long !!

Can you recommend any fighters similar height/style to Deontay Wilder that I could check out?

Why do people even ask questions like these? Am I too old, too fat, too short, too stupid? Lets put an end to threads like these. Who's with me?

That's funny, for looking too robotic, they sure do seem to win a lot.

Just box, you'll see where you end up.

At the gym we have a kid that weighs about 62 kg but is well over six feet, he has no muscle at all. I can make him puke with every body shot I throw and he does not have the strength to keep me off, so IMO there is such a thing as being too tall for your weight. You could always bulk up some if that turns out to be necessary, boxing training itself may take care of that.

He won't have their opposition either unless he has that talent, and on top of that we won't know until he tries.
