He just gave his props to Pavlik, but said he threw too many unecessary punches in the second round and was tired later on, that he threw himself out. He seemed highly dissapointed. He said he was going get back to the gym watch the tape and work on those things where he went wrong. Umm, his face up close looked really bad than what it looked like while they were fighting. his left side was swollen pretty badly. Larry Merchant stated that there was the rematch clause and asked if he wanted a rematch fight w Pavlik immediately or if he wanted to recooperate by fighting some other guys and build back up to the rematch. he said he wanted the rematch immediately with pavlik, that he would go back to the gym & watch the tape and come back... he also said that he just got caught.

Basically, JT said that he wasted too much energy trying to finish KP in the second round; that he couldn't believe he lost; that KP fought a great fight; that he would like to fight KP in his next fight; that he needs to look at the tape, get back in the gym and correct his mistakes. He was gracious and honest and made no excuses or complaints. Stand up guy, it seemed. JT also looked terrible in the post-fight interview, he face was very swollen and mishappen. He had obviously taken a lot of punishment. KP is right: it doesn't look like he hits that hard on television, but, apparently, he does.

He said he wanted to go back to fighting light punching LightMiddleweights or guys well into their 40s. He said he knew he couldn't beat Calzaghe which is why he turned down the whole heap of money which Kesler will now get

Yup. I was impressed with his class in defeat, but he was always class anyway.

All this Taylor hating is getting ridiculous, it's a shame we have fans like this in boxing, why can't people respect fighters regardless of the outcome?

BTW thanks for telling me what he said in the interview, i was concerned that he would give up boxing, but it's good to know he'll be back in the gym.

Most good and /or great fighters lose at least once (Rocky excepted).

It is what you do after you lose that sometimes makes you better.

JT fought a good fight....but Pavlik's jab busted him up, then the big guns closed the show.

JT knows what he needs to do to beat Pavlik, and I won't be too surprised if we see a "rubber match' between the two fighters (lot's of money out there for the next PPV's)

connect percentage increases as you get tired and thats exactly what happened to JT , he sees punches coming , too tired/lazy to react resulting a classic TKO/Fight

Well, to be honest, PAVLIK landed his right hand at least once each rd from rd 1 on...like Pavlik said, he thinks it was the accumilation that got Taylor

The way Taylor fought in rd 5, i think he could beat a lot of MW's

hmm... how can taylor be tired from throwing those punches in the 2nd round? he's a very young guy. i think younger than pavlik even. he also has only about 25 fights.

for a young guy, he sure has weak stamina.

I dont buy the energy excuse, If Taylor kept his hands up and blocked that right hand leading to the uppercut, Taylor would of lasted a couple of more rounds, taylor was setting the pace in the round until that right hit him.

Whether or not it was from throwing himself out in the second round, he clearly showed to be wearing out more as the fight went on....certainly more than Pavlik. A clear indication was the fact that Pavliks punches began connecting more & more. Taylor began looking a little big sluggish which didnt give him the ability of dodging out of the punches & keeping a safer distance as he was earlier in the fight, despite still having his left low. If you watch the fight again, you will see that he had his left low the majority of the time, the difference was that he was kind of slick in dodging punches. He made Pavlik miss a lot and he countered pretty good, but you cannot rely on just dodging punches alone as a defense....cause sooner or later you will get caught. Later in the fight, it seemed they were fighting at a closer distance where Pavlik was landing his jab frequently, which was clearly bother Taylor, and which then setup the right hand.
