Terry Norris vs. James Toney in 1992

Norris might look good for a few rounds with his speed, and then Toney catches up late and stops him.

This turns out very similar to Meldrick Taylor vs Terry Norris, only Norris has switched roles!

Norris comes out in the first his athletic ability and speed leads to some nice combos, and flashy displays, but it is apparent that Toney can shrug off anything that norris might land and respect for his power goes out the window, Norris continues to start the 2nd strong, but with no fear of a KO Toney has impossed his will by the end of the rd. More of the same Toney just to big, too strong and this ends in 3 or 4 rds, imho!

James would deal with anything Norris had with no problem. I can't say that about Norris.

that was what i thought.
the reason i did not vote is that 1992 makes it a tough question after the tiberi , johnson and mccallum fights , but the surest thing here that norris will not stop toney. all the rest are more possible.

since you said 1992, I'm going with Norris in an upset-Roy Jones style. Had you put in the year 1991 it would be different result

Early in 1992 you could see that Toney had changed from a hungry go get em fighter to very lazy, fat and self satisfied that lost to a sunday school teacher I never heard from again

james could defintiely be outhustled and who better to outpoint him than TNT Norris. I even had james losing to McCallum in the rematch which was very slow, boring and uneventful match.

I think Terry's chances are very good. outpointing a mechanical, slothful fighter shouldnt be too difficult for a speedster whose peak had just arrived

Yeah but Norris could be knocked out at any point in a fight, and James could do it late, plus he was bigger. I think your right, there was many versions of Toney, but if were going with the sharpshooting middleweight version I think he gets him mid to late fight.

In 1992 there was only one version. In early 92, James couldnt even get anything going with Tiberi. I thought he lost by a wide margin.

JT might have taken him lightly but what went wrong in the MM rematch that summer? If you come in flat and uninspired before TNT Norris, he will outpoint you with his great all around speed
