One of the reasons I posted is because, you know how sometimes what you think you see can be cleared up by someone else as something altogether different. For all I knew, I was missing interesting pieces of a story. Somebody could have come on and said ''I have this on tape and if you'd seen the interview afterward, you'd know what was really going on because Fuji said..." And in regards to "Guys have quit over way, way less." I actually said the retirement in the corner looked quite necessary to me and I was frustrated that an article I'd read made it look like he did just plain quit, which isn't what I saw. I saw a guy in serious trouble and unable to fight back whose only good option was to stop. So, hopefully you don't think I was knocking him. |

Like most guys with power who win so brutally such as Fuji, when that power is negated as effectively as was Fuji's against Locche, and especially by a guy with such unreal skills as Locche, there is very little in the way of auxilary, or alternative resources that they can call upon to compensate. Fuji was just exasperated, humiliated and made to feel almost impotent by his complete failure to land anything of importance, or rfeally to land just about anything at all. His eyesight was a factor as well, and all that made him a precursor to the "no mas" Duran by 12 years, only after manfully enduring far more than Duran had to.

I don't think this fight has any comparisons with No mas.
it's just a typical retirement due to a combination of facial damage and a fight becoming too one sided, with little obvious way of turning things around. |

I always think how similar Loche's defense is to Mayweathers, the right uppercuts at the end is also a tool FMJ uses allot in the exact same manner. Wonder if the Mayweathers are closet Loche fans

Locche won this putting on a clinic. It was pretty one-sided and a joy watching because I am a student of the defensive arts. Locche hit him with some pretty good body shots and was just too frustrating for Fuji to hit. This fight is definetly worth a rewatch.

If Fuji's eye was in that bad a shape against any other guy, I'm sure he would have stayed in the fight with the hope of being able to land something to turn it all around. The thing was, however, that he had absolutely no hope in his own mind that he was going to be able to do that against this guy Locche. Fuji's defeat was nearly all mental, as Locche just shut him down inside, and it was humilating to Fuji above all.

This fight, as in all other fights on film of Locche, is a pleasure for me to watch...I'm finding Locche to be the most entertaining fighter of all for me. Who need a big punch, or brutal knockouts? The defensive masters do it for me.

Finding Locche film is hard, in good quality is even tougher. I think people will end up liking it, though. |
