Default Michael Brodie Comeback thoughts? ...

I'm pleased to say my favourite domestic fighter is coming back to the ring it seems according to britishboxing.net has anyone any thoughts about what his capabilities might be? He's always been a good hitter and a lovely smooth boxer. His bodypunching was a joy to watch. I'm really excited about getting to watch him again.

Domestic level I'd imagine, especially following the lay off. Good luck to him.

Bad idea IMHO, it looked like he'd retired at the right time to me. If he's comeback for the money then I'd guess the best he could do is to get himself as a W on Khans record.

Brodie, whos best weight was probably super bantam, fighting khan whos a big lightweight - not a good move that imo.

Yep, sorry. He was a Feather at the end of his career, I'd guess he'd come back at jr Lightweight? Whatever the weight he's too old and will end up losing to the first young, decent domestic fighter he faces.

Going 0-2-1 against Chi and Harrison is not shameful. He had a lot on when getting ready for Harrison and is one of most naturally talented boxers this country has ever produced.

How many feathers won Harrison's respect by whacking him to the body and staying right in front of him for three minutes?
I don't disagree with any of that but he isn't active and he'll be knocking on 34 by the time he gets back in the ring. He was looking shop worn towards the end and that was 3 years ago....

edit: sorry 2 1/2 years ago.

Should have stayed retired imo , I like the guy a lot but Chi took everything from him .

I'd hate to see him become a victim of the likes of Kevin Mitchell(no disrespect to Mitchell he seems a nice guy) who he was levels above a few years ago but now would merely be enough to give him a tough fight and no more .

TBH I always thought Brodie retired at exactly the right time, he gave it his best shot against Chi and then had one last go against Harrision as a underdog. Great time to bow out IMHO.

Shame about the Jorrin decision....

Hope your boxing plans are going well Jeff.

I'm interested to know why Brodie retired - did he feel he'd achieved as much as he could in boxing? Perhaps it was a decision made on the back of the Harrison and Chi losses which he has come to regret.

I just hope his motivation for fighting again is for the right reasons and not forced by other circumstances. We often have high expectations of boxing heroes and are then left feeling disappointed (for them and us as fans) if a comeback fails. Sometimes its better to remember a talented fighter as they were in their prime so I do have some reservations about his return but wish him well.

has brodie toughened his body up?

did'nt harrison (scott) stop him with a crunching body shot, surely he'll have that as a weakness i know no one likes them but some boxers can take them more than others.

hey jeff how you doin in the army? not been on for a while

I think I remember those body shots being particulary sickening , Brodie was landing some great ones himself but the difference was Harrison could take them .

There was probably about a stone weight difference between Brodie and Harrision at fight time.

Brodie lost that first fight with Chi, a bit of a robbery, good fight anyway.

The comeback strikes me as utterly pointless though, unless he needs extra cash or something. He won't make any noise at all now.

Brodie won Harrisons respect? I must have blinked & missed that one

Harrison destroyed him, simple & plain.

My goodness, with characters like you & David Payne writing for Boxing news, no wonder their sales are going down down down...

The only thing more shocking than Boxing news backing an English fighter nowadays is them backing a scottish fighter, if you understand what I am saying...
